We like to wander through Willemstad some days, just enjoying the atmosphere. Other days, we'll take a more directed approach, for example taking the very interesting self-directed Historic Willemstad Architectural Walking Tour. There's a guide and map online, and it includes routes in both the Punda and Otrobanda. Even if you aren't interested in architecture, the guide has tons of interesting and educational information. While we enjoy time spent in Willemstad, we frequently rent a car for the day and head north, exploring different beaches and snorkeling sites. With a car rental outlet right at the cruise terminal, we can be off and on our way long good and early and return just before all aboard (plus some time in hand, just in case).

That was our favorite winter itinerary. Really miss it.

Appreciate hearing new ideas.. we do like architecture and historical walking tours...but the city streets smelled of yuck and our guide was not the best! Maybe next time we'll do better but have done ABC cruises recently so it will be awhile.
