Carnival Horizon 8 day Southern Caribbean Cruise Review

The ship was still rocking pretty hard, but fortunately my motion sickness pills were working tonight so I decided to head to showtime. All the shows on Horizon are ones I have not seen before and I was pretty bummed I missed Vintage Pop the night before. That seemed like it would have been a good show. Tonight's show was Amor Cubano.

I got a seat in the balcony with a good sight line.

If you don't mind sitting in the balcony, there are very few bad seats in the house. There is no leg room but overall the seats were comfortable, I had a cup holder, and I had a good view of the stage. The show itself was honestly one of the worse I have ever seen. I am not a big song and dance show kinda guy, so take it with a grain of salt but I really did not enjoy this show at all.

I rounded out the night with some casino time. They don't do a lot of drawings anymore like they used to but tonight they had the hot seat promotion from 10-12. Not once, but twice, the seat two down from where I was playing was the winner. Rotten luck tonight, though I did make a small comeback at the end of the night that put me back ahead for the week by a whole $5.

Saw these put out for the first time in all my cruises.

What is the etiquette with these things? In pretty calm seas (we had pulled out about 10 minutes prior so not really in open water yet) I saw a guy using one as a spit bag. Gross.

After that I wrapped up and went to bed another rocky cruise day in the books. Tomorrow we will be in La Romana.

The rocking normally does not bother me but it really got to me this cruise. My mom also. This was her first time getting sick I think maybe our location at the front of the ship so close to the waterline contributed to it.

Oh yea, the front of the ship was the worst. My sister attempted to work out in the gym but had so much trouble, and actually saw someone fall off the treadmill because of the rocking

This is a great itinerary! Enjoy 🙂

Thanks for reading along! That was quite a rocky cruise wasn't it? It took me about three days to stop randomly feeling like I was still rocking.

My husband and I were also on this cruise! We had a Havana aft extended balcony. Best room we’ve ever had. Best Carnival Ship. It was an amazing trip for us. It did take a few days to stop rocking lol.

Oh no.  This totally sounds like something I would do (falling off the treadmill) and we're doing this cruise soon.  I had plans to workout, but note to self- no treadmill if its really rocking.

Looking forward to rest of your review. We are booking this itinerary in Nov. What deck were you on? We're trying to decided o. Deck 9 or Deck 10.

I was on Deck 1. Between those two I would probably chose 10 just because I don't want to be below the Lido deck. If you choose 9 make sure you pay attention to what is above your cabin. Enjoy your cruise.

Back of the ship, that sounds much better for the wild ride we went on lol.

Thanks everyone for reading along so far. I am heading out tomorrow for my next cruise so I am going to disappear for a couple days. When I do return on Monday I will be a little busy at work cramming in five days of work in 4.5 days so please forgive my absence from this review for about a week or so. I will be back to finish 🙂

Ship Tour:

I split it up over two days since my camera battery was dyeing but I took a bunch of photographs of the ship that I am going to share with you now.

Decks 1-2 are staterooms.

Deck 2 also has the Family Harbor area.

The carpets are a different theme as are the walls with a New England feel instead of the Caribbean designs on other decks.

IMG062-L.jpg

They also have their own dedicated lounge that I couldn't really photograph, too many people inside.

IMG063-L.jpg

Moving up to deck 3 starting at the back is the Meridian Restaurant used for YTD.

Like Carnival's older ships, you still cannot pass through deck 3 because of the galley so you must go up and over to get to the front of the ship.

The lobby on 3 FWD is is different without the open atrium, but I do like the dreamscape. It doesn't capture on photo but it really brightens this area up nicely.

Carnival Adventures (AKA shore excursion desk).

Guest Services.

The Reflections Restaurant used for traditional dining is also located in this area but I somehow forgot to photograph it.

More staterooms at the front of deck 3.

The landing of the stairs helps you keep track of what deck you are on.

IMG074-L.jpg

The Liquid Lounge is at the front of Deck 4 and Deck 5. They were having a meeting in here so I just peeked in real quick.

Mini buffet setup inside Ocean Plaza.

Check in desk for YTD. Seriously just use the app, I could not believe how long this line was every night. The JavaBlue cafe is also here, not photographed because of the line of people.

Continuing forward.
