Hi!

We are visiting Tampa in December and are actually arriving on New Years Eve. We need a hotel for 4 nights before we embark.

I have been looking at Marriot Waterside but it is too expensive. It looks amazing though... Right now we have a booking at Hampton Inn Ybor city with free cancellation.

Do you have any advice for reasonable priced hotel with good location and convinient for New Years party? We like walking so prefer a area where can walk.
Do you have any advice regarding booking online? Are there any websites offering better prices on hotels in Tampa?

Thank you for any comments and advice!

Hopefully a local will chime in.  General pre-cruise advice for Tampa - in addition to near the port (Marriott, etc.) and Ybor City -  is the Rocky Point area or the Westshore area (near the airport).

With a 4 day stay you might look at branching out of Tampa and staying in St. Pete or Clearwater or somewhere farther south on the gulf coast.  St. Pete is fairly compact with lots to do and see within a smaller area, but still not too far from the beach if the weather cooperates.

For four nights, I would for sure stay on Clearwater Beach, Treasure Island, Indian Rocks, or Pass-A-Griille.

They are some of the most gorgeous beaches in the world and walkable to a lot of stuff.

If the beach is out, then Rocky Point.  Love that area.
