YankeesFan4Life Posted February 11, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2020 Has anyone left their iPhone in the room and been able to use the Apple Watch only to use the NCL app on board? I'm somewhat new to Apple products and not sure how this will work. My last cruse last year I was still on an Android phone and my Samsung watch was able to get notifications, but never left my phone. If the watch is on the ship's WiFi, and the app is loaded, just curious....
Rare KeithJenner Posted February 11, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2020 For an app to work on your watch independently of your phone, it needs to have a specific Apple Watch App, which the NCL one doesn't (at least not in the UK, and I don't see why it would be different elsewhere). Without that watch app, all that happens is the phone relays notifications to your watch, so you need to have the phone with you.
zqvol Posted February 11, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2020 Until there is an NCL app for the Apple watch, you really can't use as OP has described, however if you have the cellular version, and want to pay the ridiculous cellular fees, you could get notifications to the watch no matter where the phone is located, but the NCL app, does nto work with the watch as of today.
