Rare rjm11 Posted February 12, 2020 #5 Share Posted February 12, 2020 we were on the Dawn in January- I don't remember the officers, the cruise director was a woman, but I don't remember her name. She was pretty good though. I can comment on the upgraded beverage package- we are wine drinkers (and hubby whiskey) and enjoyed it very much. There was virtually no limit on the number of bottles of wine you could get at dinners, though they were not available at bars. We got in a habit of ordering extra ones to take back to the room with us, so that we'd have some for afternoon sailaways. They were totally fine with us sharing our bottles with the rest of our group who did not have the upgraded package. We also used it for specialty coffee/tea drinks in atrium, and fresh squeezed orange juice at breakfast. The glasses of wine and whiskey we could get with this package were MUCH better than without- the ones included in the basic drink package capped out at $15 (of course you could get whatever you wanted and pay the difference), but many of the glasses of wine I liked were over that per glass. They did NOT include the coravin pourings in the upgraded drink package, but did provide a discount on them. Let me know if you have other questions! purpleally Posted February 12, 2020 #6 Share Posted February 12, 2020 Thank you so much for this info!!! how about champagne. Veuve. By the glass? By the bottle? did you order bottles at lunch? I’m on vacation. I’m doing that if I can did they open extra bottles you ordered? we try not to eat at the buffet but were bottles available there hoping fresh squeezed oj at breakfast with a glass of bubbly. I’ll make my own mimosa we are also whiskey drinkers so that’ll be good presume you sailed out of Tampa? Can you remember how long it took to reach international waters - no tax
Rare rjm11 Posted February 12, 2020 #7 Share Posted February 12, 2020 We did sail out of Tampa- I don't remember tax at all, and I know we had a drink right after boarding- maybe there was tax charged, but I don't think so. I think we went under the Sunshine Bridge around 6:45. We did order bottles of wine with lunch, but it was in the suite restaurant (Moderno)- no problems. We never ate at the buffet, so I'm not sure there. They only opened the bottles if we asked them to- they were perfectly happy bringing us bottles and having us take them back to the room with us at both the main dining room and the specialty restaurants. We tried to get bottles at the Wine Bar but they would not give them there. Not all of the bars had all of the whiskeys- my husband was looking for one (Woodford Reserve maybe?) and they didn't have it at the casino bar- but then the next night it was there.... so I think it can be hit or miss with some stuff. We don't drink the bubbly so I'm not sure, but it was listed on the menu as available by the bottle with the package (but we didn't try it). PS- my husband would be annoyed that I'm saying "whiskey" instead of "bourbon"!

Rare bedfordmom Posted February 14, 2020 #10 Share Posted February 14, 2020 Thanks he may have been one of the butlers when we were on the Dawn. Leah was the concierge during our last 2 times in a suite. She tried too hard and was more annoying than anything else.
