Breakaway Questions?

We will be on the Breakaway in May for a 5 night cruise and have a few questions...

Can you access your room when you embark?

Which restaurant is open on embarkation? We want to avoid the buffet?

We booked Priority Access since we enjoy it on Carnival, has anyone used it yet?

Where do you go to book the comedy shows?

We reserved seating for Burn the Floor and Six, is it assign seating or first come first serve? How early do they seat you and how early should we get there?

Has anyone seen Escape the Big Top show? Is it good? Where do you go to reserve for it?

Any late night entertainment worth doing?

Anyone have menus and Freestyle Dailies for the 5 night cruise?

Any tips or tricks we should know?

Thanks!

Can you access your room when you embark? They will announce rooms are open sometime after 1pm, so I guess it depends on when you embark

Which restaurant is open on embarkation? We want to avoid the buffet? O'Sheehans will be open and one of the MDRs will be open around 12

We booked Priority Access since we enjoy it on Carnival, has anyone used it yet? Search the threads, from what I've read it's mixed reviews that tend towards negative

We reserved seating for Burn the Floor and Six, is it assign seating or first come first serve? How early do they seat you and how early should we get there? All first come first serve with stand bys being let in around 15 minutes before. It's open at least 30 minutes before hand, but I'm not exactly sure as I always scoot in last minute

Has anyone seen Escape the Big Top show? Is it good? Where do you go to reserve for it?

Any late night entertainment worth doing? Depends on what you want to do. Howl at the Moon and Syds is a fun time. Plus the nightly parties if you call that late night. Late late Bliss is really the last venue open besides the casino.

Anyone have menus and Freestyle Dailies for the 5 night cruise? Doubtful - 5 night cruises are one-offs (I believe the cruise you're going on is one of the few before a reposition) and the Breakaway has been doing 7 night cruises pretty solidly for close to a year between Miami and Orlando

Any tips or tricks we should know?

Thanks!

We really enjoyed the house band at Syd Norman's pour house. (60s, 70s, and 80s rock)

Their sets start at 9pm and run until midnight...

You'll want to be there around 830 to get seats.

Escape the BigTop is more escape room than show.  Think puzzles.  Heard it was good.

Escape the Big Top is a lot of fun if you enjoy solving puzzles/brain teasers. You cannot book it in advance, only on the ship. To book you should go to the ticket office deck 7 at the starboard entrance to the main theater on embarkation day. You can also book the comedy shows and any production shows you were unable to book in advance. The box office is one of our very first stops once onboard.

Have a great cruise!

Can you access your room when you embark?

The ship asks you to kindly not go to your room until the Cruise Director announces that they are available. That is usually between 1:00 and 1:30.

Which restaurant is open on embarkation? We want to avoid the buffet?

The Taste and Savor main dining rooms (Deck 6 forward) and O'Shehan's (Deck 7 midship) are open at 11:30.

We booked Priority Access since we enjoy it on Carnival, has anyone used it yet?

Not worth the money. General boarding goes really fast.

Where do you go to book the comedy shows?

Use on the the touch screen kiosks near elevator lobbies. Or go to the show booking center as soon as you embark (use to be the Box Office, but has been moved to Headliners on most ships.

We reserved seating for Burn the Floor and Six, is it assign seating or first come first serve? How early do they seat you and how early should we get there?

First come first serve, seat yourself. If you have specific seating needs, go about 30 minutes before show time. 10 minutes (or more) before show time, they open the theater to stand-by customers, so if you show up late you won't get a good seat. If you are going to the Cirque dinner show, you need to be in line at least an hour before show time (dinner starts 30 minutes before show time, soon after the doors open).

Has anyone seen Escape the Big Top show? Is it good? Where do you go to reserve for it?

This is an escape room activity. You work in teams to solve puzzles and try to "escape" from the room.

Any late night entertainment worth doing?

They have wonderful entertainment at night. Mostly live music.  Enjoy.

Anyone have menus and Freestyle Dailies for the 5 night cruise?

NCL has a set of 14 main dining room menus that the executive chef chooses from. There are no set menus for a specific cruise duration. You get what the chef selected (weeks in advance).

Have a great cruise!

Not until after 130 or 2PM

Which restaurant is open on embarkation? We want to avoid the buffet?

Savor & Taste on Deck 6 are open at noon.  Enjoy!!

We booked Priority Access since we enjoy it on Carnival, has anyone used it yet?

We are Platinum so it makes no difference to use but from what I've read here on CC & seen it's definitely NOT worth the extra $$.

Where do you go to book the comedy shows?

The Box Office on Deck 6 should be open when you first get aboard.  You should also download the NCL app for your smartphone bc I think you can book your reservations via the app also.  Also the touch screens aboard ship can also be used.  BOOK EARLY!!!  These shows fill up FAST!!!

We reserved seating for Burn the Floor and Six, is it assign seating or first come first serve? How early do they seat you and how early should we get there?

First come, best seats.  They carve out a section in the theater for the Haven pax also.

Has anyone seen Escape the Big Top show? Is it good? Where do you go to reserve for it?

Haven't seen it myself but have heard other pax that enjoyed it.  Again, the Box Office on Deck 6.  Check the app and the touch screens also.

Any late night entertainment worth doing?

HIGHLY recommend "Howl At the Moon"!!!

Anyone have menus and Freestyle Dailies for the 5 night cruise?

Any tips or tricks we should know?

On our last cruise on B'away they had a themed (Mexican, Asian, American, etc.) buffet in Moderno on sea days.  Food was good!

For ANY show in the Atrium (Not So Newlywed, Senior Officers Talk, etc) get there EARLY if you want a seat.

My 2 cents!  Hope you have a great cruise!

When we were on the Breakaway last month, the comedy shows alternated with the Howl at the Moon performances, as they took place in the same venue.  One night they did have the comedy show in the main theater.  Reservations were not required for the theater show.

We also loved the "house" band at Syd Norman's.  Every performance was great!

Escape the Big Top was interesting to say the least.  I did it with my family, they group you into groups of 10 or so with other pax, which is a good way to meet other people.  I am not too fond of these types of activities, so I left the group, got drinks, came back, started drinking, while they solved the puzzles...Didn't make much sense to me, personally, but somehow my son is the one who actually won the challenge in a group of over 100 people!  Totally shocked!  So at least they enjoyed it.

I just paid for the Priority Access, mainly because we're at GSC two days and wanted the priority tender access.   Also you get $50 spa credit per person, so may decide to book a massage....

Syd Norman's Pour House was the greatest time I've ever had on a cruise ship!  We were on a 7 day in August, the band was SO fantastic that we went there the 4 nights they performed!  We completely missed the comedy shows, and a bunch of other things because we had so much fun!  We're going back in April for a quick 4 nighter, so it will give us an opportunity to do other things like the comedy show.  The band is different now, and I think I'd go in with preconceived notions and not enjoy it as much, but we'll give it a try one night..

Thanks for all the responses. Few more questions if you don't mind...

Is Vibe worth it? What is the cost? We read the pool decks get packed and their are a lot of chair hogs.

It's my husband Dirty 30 birthday🥳, anything special we could do to celebrate?

We have Cagneys and Le Bistro booked, is it good? Can you order more than one entree, appetizer and/or dessert?

How does the "Free" drink package work? unlimited drinks? do they cut you off after a certain amount?

Is the Ice Bar worth experiencing?

Anymore advise and tip is still greatly appreciated!😃

Vibe is about $100/day per person...

It looks fancy...

There is no limit to the drinks package, just a cap on drink cost. ($15/drink)

Look up menus online to find out if your favourite drink falls under the cap...
We had no problem with the price cap, plenty of wines by the glass are under cap, and all the popular beers and booze are fine. Our mimosas in the morning were made with Prosecco, however (The Horror!).

Cagney's and LeBistro were wonderful. Only one entre, however...
Eat breakfast at Cagney's on Sea Days... Avoids the crowds...

We had a group of 8 do the Ice Bar in 2017.  Back then it was $20/each not sure if it's changed.  They gave us warm hooded ponchos and gloves to wear inside as well as 3 free ice bar drinks.   Loud music and ice sculptures including an ice throne made for fun pictures.  We basically had the place to ourselves and our group had a blast but I can't say it would have been that fun if it was just 2 of us.

I am cruising this itinerary May 1 . If you are on this cruise join us over on FB or CC roll calls. If you are going after I will try to post the dailies. The May 1 5 day seems to be booked with a bunch of kid-less adults, should be a good time!

The Vibe is a very nice adults only area.  They only sell a limited number of passes so you are certain to get a lounger...if you are lucky enough to be in one of the first groups to board so you can purchase the passes.   The passes were $209 per person for a 7-day cruise the last time i checked.  If you intend to get off the ship while in each port on the 5 day sailing it may not wind up being worth it.  There is also Spice H20 on the Breakaway which is a free adults only outdoor area with plenty of loungers (but not much shade) DH spent a lot of time there while on the Breakaway and had no trouble finding a lounger when he wanted.  There is a bar in both the Vibe and SpiceH20.

It is more an escape room...it was hard but definitely fun! I believe we booked at the box office, but not sure.
