honeymooner16 Posted February 23, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2020 I was curious if anyone has had luck accessing a work VPN while at sea? There seems to be mixed reviews if it will work or not on the surf and stream package and I hate to pay for it if I won't be able to access my work anyway. We use pulse secure if that matters? Thanks in advance!

You may not know for sure until you try it. If it doesn't you can ask for a refund of your VOOM package.
Rare twangster Posted February 23, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2020 I've had success with Cisco Anyconnect, Juniper Pulse Connect and Fortinet Forticlient. However these are all in a corporate setting. In addition I use a consumer based VPN service on a personal basis. It features both IPSEC and SSL options. Over Voom the IPSEC works while the SSL doesn't (same gateway IP address). Not all VPN solutions can tolerate the latency and traffic shaping involved with satellite internet. In a corporate world even the solutions above aren't guaranteed. It depends how the people who deployed the VPN solution configured it.
Rare JessyCruises Posted February 23, 2020 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2020 I had success with Cisco Anyconnect on Liberty and Empress last year. Like Twangster it was in a corporate setting. I was also using my Cisco phone over the wifi as well and it worked great
Crism Posted February 23, 2020 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2020 My personal subscription VPN works on various ships but has NOT worked on Explorer (internet is the WORST) and now on Brilliance the latency is too high/speed too slow with Surf package only. cello56 Posted February 24, 2020 #7 Share Posted February 24, 2020 My DH says that he has been able to connect to his work VPN, but ONLY on the STREAM level of service. Surf does not work for him.
