  1. You could also see if your son will eat Uncrustables. I am pretty sure they come in PB&J. Since they are prepackaged you would also be allowed to take them off the ship.
  2. Oh my! Those last two photos show a very appetizing entree. They really did not make the plate look attractive did they!
  3. Remember too that while you age up to please your 5 year old kindergarten child, there will be kids in that group that are 8 about to turn nine who might not be so happy to have them there.
  4. Thank you for the photos. I think my scooter will fit fine in this cabin.
  5. May I ask if you are in a two or three/four person cabin? (Does the sofa pull out into a bed). We are sailing in these cabins next month are trying to figure out the space available for my small scooter. We will be in cabin 1824.
  6. Thank you both so much! No point in packing spin shoes if they don't have the clips!
  7. Does anyone know if the exercise bikes on Adventure of the Seas have bike clips on the pedals for spin shoes? Also, do they have wifi on the bikes so we can log in to our Peloton accounts for the ride. Thanks for any help!
  8. I spent about 70 minutes in the ship medical facility before they returned to port and off loaded us to an ambulance. They charged me just over $2,200 for what was billed as 70 minutes in their ICU. Luckily we had out of country medical insurance and they paid all but about two hundred of that bill. Surprisingly our regular heatlhcare coverage paid 100% of the bill in the San Juan hospital. They were even in network!
  9. Keep in mind that depending on where you are from and sailing out of - USA/Foreign Country - your phones might work until sail away and you might be able to skip day one and purchase the package starting on Day 2. That is a good chunk of savings right there.
  10. If the Serenade Captain was able to give frequent updates to those on board, then there is no reason why the shoreside staff were unable to keep the passengers waiting to board updated as well. Thank you for your updates Jacquelyn - you are much more informative than Royal has been!
  11. You do realize that 'Hurricane Season' encompasses six months of the year? That is 50%! That includes the very expensive July and August cruises. Personally I totally understand that weather issues are out of the control of Royal. What IS in their control is being honest and up front with passenger both on the ship and waiting to get on the ship. They need to make sure the correct information is being given out through all their social media channels. They need to make their updates more frequently - even if they just state that they are still waiting for the Coast Guard to complete their inspections of the channel. To just go radio silent and leave people hanging is just plain wrong. Carnival managed to get info to their passengers.
  12. Carnival have updated what is happening for Carnival Paradise - also porting out of Tampa. "Carnival Paradise 08/31/23 – The cruise will now be operated as a 3-day, departing tomorrow, 09/01/23, as a voyage without a port of call. We will communicate with impacted guests by 1:00 PM today. " It would be lovely if Royal would inform us what is happening. I imagine that given the circumstances the US Government can provide a waiver for the laws regarding foreign ports.
  13. We are taking our first cruise where I will be bringing my own personal electric scooter. Cruising out of Tampa and we are unsure where exactly my husband should drop me off with my scooter. Do we park as usual and then drive the scooter to the regular door? Or should he drop me off first and then park the car? What about our luggage? Hoping he can drop of me, the scooter and our luggage at the curb near entryway and then park the car. Anyone have experience with the Tampa port? Thanks.

  15. Very strange! I got the price increase email with a listing of our upcoming cruise on Adventure next March. Taxes are going up $9 in total. Here is the strange part - WE ARE NOT GOING TO ANY BAHAMAS PORTS! Cruise goes to Haiti, D.R., St. Thomas and St. Croix! Why did we get the email and why the Bahama tax increase on a cruise that does not sail to the Bahamas?
  16. I think that maybe the point that several people are trying to make is that if you are willing to spend 'X' amount of money on your cabin attendant - tip + cost of treat = X, than maybe you would be better to give 'X' to the crew member and let them decide how to spend it. If you are saying if you don't want my special treat that I chose then you don't get the extra money, then that just shows that you only want to give extra on your terms. Gifts should be chosen to make the recipient happy not the giver. I want a paycheck for the work I do - not an extra treat that someone else decides I should have.
  17. WOAH!!!! Slow down there with the implied assumptions about me! Nowhere in my post did I say that we were slobs on a cruise. In fact our cabin is kept in pretty much perfect order for the entire cruise. Our belongings are put away, dirty clothes are stored in a suitcase, trash is always put in the trash can. We make things as easy as possible for our cabin attendant to do their job. Wet towels are placed on the bathroom floor because that is where they go when you want them replaced. Yes I expect the cabin attendant to make my bed each day. That is their job! Yes I expect them to vacuum the rug as needed. Again that is their job. Cleaning the bathroom? Again, their job, however I make sure that we leave the bathroom in proper order. If the toilet needs scrubbing after I use it - I scrub it! There is no 'mentality' issue with expecting to receive what we paid for. These services are part of the cost of the cruise. If others are happy to make your own bed, good for you. If you don't mind towels that are not dry for that second shower of the day, again, that is up to you. I'm just not going to pay for services that I want and then be ok with them not being provided.
  18. Here is a shocking concept! When I am on a cruise ..... I am not at home! At home, I make my own bed, we hang and reuse towels, we eat the food that is served and don't expect elaborate meals. On a cruise, someone else makes my bed and cleans my bathroom and provides me with clean DRY towels as often as I need them. If I wanted to be making my own bed, cleaning my own bathroom and reusing towels I would have stayed home instead of going on vacation! There is simply no rationale to say "you don't expect this at home" when it comes to being pampered and taken care of. I am paying a lot of money - and recently a lot of money since prices have increased - to be on vacation with someone else doing all the work.
  19. For those that enjoy one a day or less cabin service - good for you - that is YOUR preference and it is now being met. For those that prefer twice a day cabin service - like me - you are now out of luck. When service was twice a day it was easy for those who wanted once a day service to simply ask for it. Now, those who like twice a day have no option. (Please don't say just say in a suite - that is out of reach financially for most people.) RCI have cut back service for no reason other than to save money. Just like so many things they have cut back on this is purely money driven cloaked in a "Save the environment" flag. They are seeing how far they can go with cut backs before people start voting with their pocketbook and stop booking cruises. Gone are the days when guests felt that they were being pampered even in an inside cabin. The overall cruising experience is being cheapened for many guests when things that they have enjoyed are no longer included.
  20. We returned from going for a swim to find our cabin door wide open - door stop keeping it that way. An electrician was in our cabin unannounced, changing a light fixture in the bathroom. Instead of parking his rather large electrician cart in front of the door blocking a stranger from entering our cabin, he parked it just past the door leaving our cabin wide open for anyone walking down the hall to enter. On the vanity we had a Macbook Air, two iPhones, two Apple Watches, two AirPods all sitting out charging. To say we were upset is an understatement. He then proceeded to tell us that it was going to be another 20-30 minutes before he would be finished his work. On formal night. 45 minutes before dinner started. We were not amused. Normally we don't leave electronics out in the open, but since we knew our cabin stewart was not due to service the room until 7pm we did not expect some random worker to enter without prior notice. RCI was very apologetic.
  21. They gave us a choice as to what card the rather large sum was charged to. They also sent four front desk staff to our cabin to help my husband pack up all of our belongs at lightning speed! They did not charge for turning the ship around - luckily we were only about 45 minutes departed from San Juan but it still took awhile. They did not give any refund on the 5 days we missed in our suite. I am fine now - just learning to live with A-Fib.
  22. Last year I spent about 75 minutes in the ship "ICU" and the bill was $2200. We had to pay the bill immediately before they turned the ship around and went back to port to off load me to an ambulance to take me to the local shore side hospital. Trust me, they wanted payment right then. I will also say that the medical care I was given on the ship was EXCELLENT! Two board certified ER doctors and two nurses. Much better than the care I received in the San Juan hospital. My 3rd. party medical coverage payed for almost all of the ship board medical care costs. My regular healthcare coverage paid for the hospital in San Juan and the ambulance - they were even 'in network'!
  23. My husband and I are perfectly happy to sit with strangers at breakfast and lunch. At dinner we have ZERO interest in sitting with strangers for seven nights. Nope. Sorry. We enjoy eating at our own pace, and talking about our own private lives. Now we have no issues with chatting with the people at the next table - the tables are so close that is easy. However having that six inch space between tables allows us to choose whether we want to talk to others that night or just keep to ourselves. Each to their own, that is why cruising is such a flexible vacation!
  24. Plus the chances of winning your bid have gone down substantially since ships are now back to their pre-covid levels of capacity. I would imagine that someone hoping to go from an inside to a balcony would have a much higher chance of winning their bid over someone wanting to go from a balcony to a full suite. There simply are not that many suites that go unsold in the regular manner.
