yvrbos Posted February 23, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2020 I would like to use the gym aboard the Summit and was just wondering how busy it can get. I would only be using the treadmill. What have cruisers experienced? Thanks all!
Darcy8 Posted February 23, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2020 We were on two weeks ago. Never had a problem getting a treadmill.
Northern Aurora Posted February 23, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2020 The use of gyms varies greatly from sailing to sailing. We generally do B2B or B2B2B cruises, and even on similar itineraries with similar passenger demographics on one leg the gym will be very busy and on the next leg the gym will be empty. luv2travel90266 Posted February 23, 2020 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2020 I'm an early riser and am in the gym and then stop for a light breakfast after, same as when home. Typically the gyms on all the cruise ships I have been on are under utilized. Sea days seem to get more use in the middle morning.
Phxazzcruisers Posted February 23, 2020 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2020 It is usually hard to find a treadmill in the mornings on the first few sea days and then it seems to taper off after that. If you are patient, you will usually be able to find one. Enjoy
Rare Jim_Iain Posted February 23, 2020 #6 Share Posted February 23, 2020 (edited) Really depends on the cruise and when you wish to work out. I'm an early morning person and found on most mornings at 7:00 all treadmills and elliptical were in use. I would often luck out and grab the last elliptical and noticed that the treadmills remained totally occupied while I was there. The few bikes they had were also usually with a waiting line. Most of our cruises are on re-positing cruises with lots of sea days which may have a bearing on my experience. On the other end I have also been up on the elliptical and the only one in the gym. davekathy Posted February 24, 2020 #8 Share Posted February 24, 2020 If you are in the gym before 6:30 AM no problem.
MEcruzr Posted February 24, 2020 #9 Share Posted February 24, 2020 I typically go between 2 and 4PM and have never had to wait for any equipment.

I've heard from many that the afternoons and evenings are lightly used. If I don't work out first thing my dedication wanes away quickly.
MEcruzr Posted February 24, 2020 #11 Share Posted February 24, 2020 I travel with my 88 yo mom... that time of days she likes a little siesta and it's my "break" when I go to the gym.
az_tchr Posted February 24, 2020 #12 Share Posted February 24, 2020 As others said mornings say 7-10 busiest on sea days. Earlier have been alone. When in port you would likely be alone. Same on evenings. The longer the cruise the more sea days and more use in the gym.
zdad59 Posted February 24, 2020 #13 Share Posted February 24, 2020 I used the gym (treadmill) three times while on Summit last week. Never had a problem getting one. Went at varied times.
