Cruise Cynic Posted February 26, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2020 (edited) Does anyone know for certain if I could use a debit card at a "Sail and Sign Kiosk" to pay my account balance on the last night of sailing? The website is not clear on this. "The Sail & Sign Kiosk is a self service terminal enabling guests on board to conveniently manage and access their onboard Sail & Sign accounts. On most ships, Kiosks are located near Guest Services and The Fun Shops. On the Carnival Legend, Carnival Miracle, Carnival Pride and Carnival Spirit, Kiosks are located near the Casino and Promenade Cafe. The terminal is accessed by using the touch screen monitor which allows application navigation. Throughout the screens, various navigational options are available. The functions within the kiosks are: Check Sail & Sign balance View statement / Print statement Review or restrict Account Users Set charge limit Set-up guest as ‘Not Authorized’ to charge Open new accounts Apply payments (cash and credit card) Withdraw cash ($5 or more); any balance left on the guest’s Sail &Sign account less than $5, the guest will receive the regular Bank of America check at the end of the cruise Change bills into smaller bills (Kiosk will dispense $20 / $10 / $5) U.S bills only Bills will be converted into the next smaller denominations available; Example: $50 bill = $20 + $20 + $10 Sail & Sign Kiosks are featured on all ships" Edited February 26, 2020 by Cruise Cynic
Rare shof515 Posted February 26, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2020 if your debit card is branded with a credit card logo from mastercard/visa then it should also work as a credit card and you select credit card as the payment type
miataman19 Posted February 26, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2020 As stated by shof515 if the Visa/MC logo is on the card you're OK. Be advised that if you are using that card as your primary payment method at check-in Carnival puts holds on the account depending on purchase habits which, after the cruise, sometimes take a week to clear. Learned that the hard way a few years ago.
Purvis1231 Posted February 26, 2020 #4 Share Posted February 26, 2020 I used my debit card once and did not have any problems. I check my ship and account and bank account before leaving the ship and everything squared.
lindsay0526 Posted February 26, 2020 #5 Share Posted February 26, 2020 As long as it has a major credit card logo on there, you are fine. But you have to be careful about the holds that they will place on a debit card. It can take a few days up to a week to release those funds back into your account, so if you need access to those funds when you travel home, I would advise you to back your ship account with a major credit card, and just pay it off with your checking account funds when you get home.
