matymil Posted February 27, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2020 (edited) Im sailing on the Magic in afew weeks. I saw online that the prices dropped and several people in our group said they called Carnival and they where able to either get OBC for a rate drop or they upgraded at a cheaper price. We have a cove balcony and I keep seeing balconies on the upper decks for several hundred cheaper. However when I called with a specific room number I saw on the site, the agent I talked to said it wasn't available. Also she told me that it would cost $265 MORE dollars to move rooms. As soon as I got off the phone with her, I checked the site and the room that I looked at before was still available and it was almost $300 cheaper than my current room. We have a casino rate and I know we cant get a rate drop but the woman said we can still change rooms. Anyone know why what I am seeing on the website is different from what they see when I call? Should I keep trying? TIA Edited February 27, 2020 by matymil
vwrestler171 Posted February 27, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 27, 2020 If you have the room selected online, it takes it out of the system for others to book. Not sure of the price difference though. Did the person apply any casino rates you are eligible for?
rufflesmom Posted February 27, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 27, 2020 We are booked on a casino offer for a cruise in October. We found a price drop (for the exact same casino offer that we booked under that expires 3/3/20). I called and got the price drop of $120 but was told that we could only do that until the date that payment was due in full. After that we couldn't get anything. That might be the reason. I will take a screen shot of the cabin and price, then I get out of it completely and even delete my browsing history before calling.
teknoge3k Posted February 27, 2020 #5 Share Posted February 27, 2020 (edited) Keep in mind when you're looking to get price drops, you have to compare apples to apples. A balcony on a higher deck is not the same category as a cove balcony. To get a price drop, you need to compare a cove balcony in the same category. Not all cabins are the same. For instance, if you have an ocean view, an ocean view 3 cabins down from you may be a different category. So I called again and spoke to someone else in the casino/global sales dept. Another room near mine became available for $285 cheaper. Seriously depends who you talk to, the last time I called was so much easier than the pervious two times.

Should I keep trying? TIA If you book a casino rate and you want to upgrade they will make you pay the casino rate, which might be higher. I just went around with them on this issue on Friday. I was just trying to get the past guest rate - not a guarantee or pack n go so I thought they would match it but nope. Not sure I will ever book a casino rate again.Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I hung up and called back. I also made a complaint about her to a supervisor. Got the cabin I wanted.
