Canbylancer Posted March 1, 2020 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2020 We will be getting on the Joy next week in San Pedro. Our ship leaves at 3pm. I have read that there is a big bottle neck trying to get through screening. I am staying in long beach the night before, so can be at the port early. What is a good time to get there? We are in the concierge class, how does that affect boarding?

You are called for priority boarding first. You are not escorted like Haven guests. There will be a separate checkin line, which may be faster. La Cucina will be open for lunch. coastcat Posted March 1, 2020 #6 Share Posted March 1, 2020 For what it's worth, for my January Joy cruise I arrived at the port at about 10:10 and got through security in 10 minutes at most. According to photo time stamps, I had my card by 10:40, was at the gangway at 11:20 (boarding group 9), and walked into my cabin at 1:05pm after lunch at Savor. And I've read other reports where San Pedro was a mess at security. So, who knows? I'm back in San Pedro next month and am planning to arrive around 10:30.

I've posted it in other threads, I've seen it both ways. In April last year I was at the port around 11 or so and on the ship (Bliss) by 11:30 or so. In October last year, we had a 2 hour wait in line before getting to security, delayed by a CG inspection of the ship, and we got there around the same time as in April.
