If a passenger got ill on a cruise and had to be put off for treatment. a case where the ship might have mechanical issues. A case where weather might prevent a ship from reaching its planned port. Port change due to tsunami. port changes due to illness. Port change due to civil unrest. All of these have happened prior to this outbreak. All of them have required passengers to fly to a destination that they planned to reach by ship. I can see where there might be an expectation of the cruise line getting people home by another method. However, that method usually means flying.
