Pet Posted March 16, 2020 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2020 Hi - MSC are asking for the balance of our cruise booked for 23 May in the Med in the next few days otherwise we would have deemed to have cancelled the cruise and will forfeit the deposit. One of us is aged 70 and HMG has stated both that those aged 70+ should not cruise at present and expect to make an announcement shortly that 70+ in the UK should self isolate for the next few months at least. Has anyone heard what MSC intend to do? Logic tells me that they will probably have to cancel cruise in the Med until late summer at the earliest. Can I transfer the deposit we paid to a future cruise and pay the appropriate balance by the new due date? Can't get through to MSC at present. Many thanks

aprilF Posted March 17, 2020 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2020 I am under 70 but am on Remicade for Crohn's disease, therefore I have a compromised immune system. I just opted to play it safe and cancel for deposit loss. After trying several ways to get through via Expedia (my travel agent) I finally just gave up (couldnt even wait on hold) and called MSC. Got through almost immediately after listening to how to do the Cruise Assurance online. This was about 20 minutes ago. It seemed like they were able to cancel and I have a reference number in case something goes wrong to at least show I tried. Good luck!
8420PR Posted March 17, 2020 #5 Share Posted March 17, 2020 Here is the link with the options MSC are offering: https://www.msccruises.co.uk/coronavirus/flexible-cruise-programme It looks like (my understanding) your options are to lose the deposit, or pay the full payment and then rebok the cruise at any point up to 48 hours before departure.
