Totally understand. I am opposite. I live in Florida so I cruise about 8-10 times a year..

At land casinos that have a time each day that they have tables for teaching.

 

When I learned black jack in Vegas, we played for free for the lesson.  Then played for $2 per hand.  And could continue to play at $2 for most of the rest of the day, as long as we did not leave the table.
