Good news you got a refund.

Is there nowhere in Gibraltar to cash your cheque or could you open an account to deposit the cheque into?

Yes there are banks, but opening new accounts is just quite a complex process - even in the uk, as i found when I looked into buying premium bonds from NS and I.  It is just that i do all my banking online.   I get a piece of paper that states it is worth over £2000 (just the two of us) and my first reaction is “what is the point of that?’

i shouldn’t complain.  I got my money.  My relationship with p and o is officially over.  My dreams of my aft cabin are gone.  😢😢😢😢

Passports, utility bills, driving licence to prove who you are should be sufficient to open an account.Once cheque clears do what suits you with the money and that account.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Here's a new one from P&O via official Facebook...

1) Customer was due to cruise in Sept

2) Customer agreed to balance taken by Direct Debit

3) Customer asks if Direct Debit will be taken now their cruise is cancelled - it shouldn't be, but always worth checking with P&O

4) P&O offers the customer the opportunity to fully pay for their already cancelled cruise, so that they can "maximize the value" of their Future Cruise Credit??

Surely that's not right? 🤔

There’s been quite a few asking is it worth paying their balances on cancelled cruises just so they can get the extra FCC I don’t think they’ve looked at the costs of most of the remaining ones yet which will be way more than the 25% bonus they think there getting

Thanks for your reply...To be honest, I think that most contributors on here have worked out the FCC rouse now, clearly not some of those on official social media.

Why anyone would go out of their way to give away thousands of pounds (optionally) and many months before they should do in the current climate is beyond me.  If this was a financial services product there would be all sorts of warnings...

"You might get less back than you put in."

"Inflation, market performance and our custom made fluid pricing model may all affect the value of your FCC."

"You might want to check on the likely value of your FCC before investing." etc

Not a specialist by any means, but I'm also not sure if their money would be protected in this scenario, unless P&O can / would provide a payment invoice to bond the monies against an inactive / cancelled booking?

So if the cruise price increase by 25%,  is it your view that you're better off having a standard refund and then paying 25% more, rather than taking an enhanced FCC and avoid paying any extra?

It would be my view that before I gave them any more money towards a package holiday that I know has already been cancelled, to first check and be reassured that my money was ABTA / ATOL bonded.  For real holidays, yes it is, for buying in effect a gift voucher...

If yes, my next view (at the present time) would be to take all of my available monies and spend it on any item other than a P&O Cruise.

Very wise.

Nobody has posted a success story today which is sad.

Steve and miniyorkie must be very close to 100 days.

I wonder if they hit 100 they get a letter from the Queen?.

Got our refund for the 15th May cruise today. The balance to our credit card and the deposit to our bank account. Usually I do everything on the credit card but must have paid the deposit by debit card.

Still awaiting a refund of the deposit on our 28th June cruise.

As I've admitted before on this site, much of the wait was my fault as I hadn't supplied medical evidence as to why we needed to cancel on the 17th March. Once I contacted one of the ladies whose companies email addresses had been shown of this site things changed. Only 3 weeks since I contacted her, so many thanks to that person.

None of this is to exonerate P&O or any other hospitality based company some/many of whose actions on refunds have left a lot to be desired.

I think that we can also all agree that a certain gentleman from Cowes should not wait too expectedly by his postbox for an invite to be recognised by the Queen in the very near future....😉

As with many others, still waiting myself, but pleased that you are on the way to getting your full monies back.

Agree with Graham that it was a dull day when no one appeared to be winning in today's refund lottery, so thanks for sharing your good news 😁

The more the saga of delayed refunds continues, the constant incremental increases in future cruise prices,  plus the overall uncertainty regarding the sustainability of the cruise industry over the next few years,  the more I am convinced that the sensible course of action is to get your money out now.

Success Cheque arrived Yesterday around 2-30pm in Bank by 3-15pm, only took 75 days.  Now have to decide if and when we will cruise with P&O again, guess we will wait and check out late deals before making our minds up, hope all those still waiting get there Cheque soon.

I am finding it difficult to understand the PR mess they are causing, the current situation on leisure travel (and all sorts of other businesses) must be a complete nightmare for many companies but you do need to come out the other side smelling of roses rather than the other stuff💩

We were pretty much committed to P&O just a few months ago and now find ourselves discussing longer term plans without them.

I do hope we all see our money soon and feel a little happy to see so many others get their dues.

Well done to the many posters here for the continued support.

Almost another week gone by ......dare I ask?  I can't see a successful post from you, so I guess not? I am sure all those who have had their refunds are still rooting for you.

I’d rather my money in my pocket nobody knows when this is going to be sorted if things aren’t starting to move by the end of the year I would have serious doubts as to the future of the industry as a whole. If/when they get going nobody has any idea what restrictions will be in place so I would be thinking that some of the people who are saying now that they would cruise no matter what restrictions are going to be in place see what is actually in place they’ll be having second thoughts it certainly won’t appeal to us some of the things being suggested. If the new normal appeals to us we’ll give it a go we’ve already 4 booked for next year so we’d have struggled to use FCC anyway. After the refund debacle I’ve lost all trust in P&O for the time being like a lot of people have and having been messed about before by them when they sold Adonia and Oriana I’d rather they had as little of my money as possible

That was our view as well, when we decided to go down the refund rather than FCC route. The ability to spend the money how and where we want was more important than having 25% extra and being restricted to a P&O cruise .

Lots of other cruiselines forums on here are reporting long waits for refunds so it is not exclusive to P&O unfortunately.

That was our thinking too.

If the government doesn't lift health and age restrictions for cruising a lot of us will be unable to cruise and insurance would be void if we did.

We have the same idea as you, have the money in our bank, Then WE can choose when and where we want to Cruise and with whatever Company has the Itinerary and Deal we want, Whenever that may be.

Exactly...

If you want to spend your refund money on a cruise then that's now your choice.

When cruising becomes feasible again, and if you are willing to consider a variety of itineraries, cruise lines, and deals, then you are, I would suggest, very likely to now find a much better value for money deal.  This is compared with currently overpaying for a like-for-like P&O Cruise in 2021.

If, on the off chance you don't, either bank the cash or spend it on something else which doesn't have a "fluid (i.e. most often inflated) pricing model" attached - many businesses will be keen to tempt you back or attract your custom for the first time.

Cash is king...Win win...

Day 96 today (Day 97 if you include the day I asked on - a Sunday so being fair with clear days)

I have had an email acknowledging receipt of my email to them giving notice of intention to commence court proceeding, usual polite email, escalating to senior financial people but still no refund.

So pleased our future cruise bookings with Princess were for a £1 each deposit, currently no idea what to do about our P&O deposits (for next year)

I will add any further news as appropriate.
