Rare shof515 Posted April 7, 2020 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2020 If you booked an shore excursion from the Shipmate app, your excursion might of been processed by a company called Shorefox. This company is shutting and they are also delaying refunds. From an email i received: Dear Valued Customer, As you are likely aware, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a disastrous effect on the entire cruise industry. Cruise vacations have always been joyful travel experiences, and it is an unprecedented time now when cruise ships are not sailing. ShoreFox has been especially hard hit, as we exclusively sell shore excursions for travelers on cruises and this leaves us, effectively, with no revenue stream until this crisis passes and the cruise industry rebounds. Since early March, when the United States State Department issued a travel advisory that United States citizens should not cruise for safety reasons, we have experienced nearly universal cancellation requests. Our team has been doing their best to continue to support our clients and partner tour guides. With no inbound sales, many outgoing expenses and no timeline of when the industry will be back up and running again, our team made efforts to find a purchaser for ShoreFox’s business but these efforts were not successful. Therefore, we have made the difficult decision that we will have to close ShoreFox down. We were hoping for an alternative solution but have been unable to find a path forward – quite simply, we are left with insufficient working capital to continue the business. Consequently, ShoreFox’s remaining working capital will be distributed pro rata, to the company’s creditors, our clients and partners. If you have an existing reservation with ShoreFox from March 2020 onward that you were not able to take and has not been refunded, please click here to fill out some information so that we can mail you a prorated refund via check. Our team is working to send out all checks by May. Even if you have already requested a refund through customer service, you must submit the information through our online form in order to ensure that your refund is processed. Please make sure to fill out the form by April 20, 2020 so that we can process your check in a timely fashion. The form will close at 11:59 PM EST on April 20th, after which we will no longer be able to accept refund requests. Checks will be voided 45 days after the date of issuance. We deeply regret that we are unable to continue as we have enjoyed connecting you with some of the best guides around the world for your cruise vacations. Please take care of your loved ones and be healthy and we hope to see you on the seas in safer times in future. Best, The ShoreFox team

Tiger0613 Posted April 7, 2020 #3 Share Posted April 7, 2020 Does prorated mean not a full refund? I didn't use it, but I'm curious.

klfrodo Posted April 7, 2020 #5 Share Posted April 7, 2020 (edited) This is where your 3rd Party Travel Insurance will kick in. **if you included the costs of your excursions as part of your non-refundable Trip Costs** edit to add that there is probably some credit card protection/recourse for reimbursement.
