How Do They......./

How do the cruise lines decide where to go during this time?  I’ve been watching the movements of O ships, and they’re moving around quite a lot.  Riviera started in Miami, then went to Nassau, Freeport, Nassau, Miami, Nassau and now she’s back to Miami.  Regent Explorer has been shadowing Riviera.  Lots of ships in Tenerife, mostly Costa and Mein Schiff. And a whole lot of ships seem to be either anchored or just bopping around.

Where  are they going to go??

A lot of things we don’t have a need to know.

 

Are they financially committed to being in the Port of Miami X number of days, so no use paying to be elsewhere?

 

Is it more expensive to dock in a port, or do putz speed at sea?

 

If they’re forced to run the engines, how long can they run them at lower capacity, like idling your car excessively.

 

Weather conditions?

 

If they remain either tied to a dock, or anchored in a single bay, for over a certain number of days, does that create work Visa or tax problems for crew members ?

 

The R ships and the O ships have different lengths and different tonnage, therefore different rules in different ports.

 

The list could go on. Someone is getting paid the big bucks to figure it all out and minimize costs for Oceania.
