beverland Posted April 22, 2020 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2020 Good day. Hope everyone is well. We live on St. Croix, USVI and can see the Norweigan Spirit between us and St. Thomas heading to Port Canaveral, FL according to MarineTraffic.com. Any ideas why this ship is sailing? Is there a shipyard in Barbados where ships are getting repairs? RCI Freedom of the Seas is near Barbados and it appears Serenade of the Seas is heading there now. Any ideas? njhorseman Posted April 23, 2020 #2 Share Posted April 23, 2020 There are many ships that have been docked or anchored in Barbados during the shutdown. Probably the Spirit stopped there for fuel and provisions before heading to Florida.
Rare ColeThornton Posted April 23, 2020 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2020 In addition to what Horseman said, they probably need to keep everything mechanical wise running smoothly especially the flux capacitors. 2
Cruising Lynne Posted April 23, 2020 #4 Share Posted April 23, 2020 Beverland, I find this very interesting since I thought Spirit was somewhere getting ready to cruise in the Mediterranean. I definitely thought it was no where near St. Croix. I hope this means there are even more itinerary changes coming up for that ship. We would love to cruise on it out of Florida or Boston, and get a chance to check out the renovations. We really enjoyed taking Spirit from Boston to Bermuda several years ago. NCL has a lot of charter flights out of FL as they terminate crew contracts. They are sent directly thousands of creW members home around the world. Rare eroller Posted April 26, 2020 #8 Share Posted April 26, 2020 The ship is docked in Port Canaveral today which is interesting, and a little odd. This ship wasn’t expected to show face in North America indefinitely. Meanwhile not far at GSC a large compliment of the NCLH fleet have met up. I presume to transfer crew between ships and begin some repatriation missions.
