Cancelled casino comp cruise

Has anyone had a cruise that was comped by the casino cancelled?  Can you please advise how this was handled?  Also, would it be best to wait for them to cancel or for us to cancel?  We have (2) 7 day back to backs in August/September booked Vancouver and Seward.

Not sure what the specific question is. If you cancel the cruise under Peace of Mind, you get a FCC. If you let them cancel the cruise, you get the option of a cash refund. Unless you upgraded, there is no cruise fare. Just your port taxes and admin fees. Grats are handled the same as if you paid for the cruise (i.e., not comped).

Our May cruise was casino comped, and we had upgraded to a Haven suite.  We received the option for FCC, with the 25% bonus credit AND the option for an additional 20% discount for sailings through 2022 if we booked by May 15th.  (letter dated May 1st.)  On May 7th, I opted to request a refund, as I already have several cruises booked.  The amount we were getting back was what we had paid, less a casino discount that was applied on our behalf.  Of course, you have to wait 90 days for a refund.

Since I have another cruise that might cancel (Canada/NE in Sept), I plan to use the FCC on that one to reschedule.  (Although, I am hoping the cruise will actually GO!  Everything and everyone is just up in the air right now pending knowing more about this virus or coming up with a vaccine!)

Our comped cruise was cancelled by NCL.  It took us about 7 weeks to get our two CruiseNext certificates back in our account to use towards another comp.  (The majority of our cruise cost of Admin Fees/Port fees was paid by CN.)

It was a long process as we were told that only a small over-worked staff had the ability to refund CN deposits.  When we received the CN deposits back in our account they had new numbers issued but the same expiration date.    We are still waiting for the $203 refund for our pre-paid DSC.  The refunds to credit cards are taking up to 90 days.

My plan for another cruise that we think will be cancelled (or we want to cancell) is to call them prior to the 'Final Payment' date and change that cruise to another date several months later.   Prior to CoVid we had done a similar change and it was pretty easy as the CAS agent just kept the same reservation # and moved our two CruiseNext certificates to another comped cruise on a different ship/different date.   I'm hoping that the CAS agents will still have the ability to handle that change themselves.

I’ve had 2 cruises canceled by NCL. One was a land based casino voucher and the other was a land-based casino upgraded tier level discount. I received FCC for both in the amount I paid cash (port taxes and fees in the case of the voucher) with 25% extra because I waited for them to cancel. I rescheduled the voucher to a week in September, and applied my FCC to future cruises I had booked already. If you had a voucher, they’re giving an extended time limit on when you can take the replacement cruise. If you cancel before they do, you will get 100% instead of 125%. The cruise next vouchers I used were also returned to my account.
