First Azamara Cruise

We decided to try Azamara. We’re Celebrity fans but after looking at their choices of cruises out of Civitavecchia (Rome) and not happy with the choices we found a great 10 night open jaw itinerary from Rome to Athens on the Pursuit. We booked the 9/04/21 sailing hoping that by this time things will be under control with the virus and things will have returned to somewhat a normal situation.
 

Lots to learn but so far it looks great and the price was actually less than Celebrity when all things considered. We booked their entry level suite but the amenities are nice. I will be looking through the posts and more than likely asking questions and also will be happy with any advice that the members have to offer. 🙂

Interesting that one cannot book specialty dining until they board. Used to being able to do so prior to the cruise. Must be a rush by many to do this.

Never could on Azamara. It’s not a problem go to the desk set up (probably at the entrance to Windows and also on deck 5 ) after boarding. Never had an issue. 
As your in a suite you can also get your butler to sort out reservations if you want but we usually do our own on boarding before we meet the butler

Looks like your cruise has only one sea day.  I would suggest you make the reservation for that night first because it will probably be the most wanted reservation night.

Much better this way than staying up until midnight or later to book in advance a la Regent.  Then, if you didn't get at the front of the on-line queue, you'd get assigned to a table for four or six.  Not what I want in a specialty restaurant.

It doesn’t seem to be a problem (or a mad rush) to make specialty restaurant reservations, but as others have said, you can do after boarding at a desk at the entrance to Windows and possibly other locations

Last cruise we were on, the extra desk was in Spirits bar.

Suspect post covid this is something that might well change -  many things won't be where they were before

Oh you could be right, uktog. Who knows what these thing will look like. We will depend upon the first wave of post COVID cruisers to inform us!
