Rotterdam Posted August 10, 2020 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2020 with all the changes in the industry over the last few years I thought cruising was veering towards more of a land based hotel business model. passengers would pay for a cabin & then everything else would be paid for individually. Drinks. buffets, breakfast, lunch dinner all land based restaurant style. the specialty restaurants already follow this format so why not the rest of the ship??? would you still sail and to where & how long. 🤗🏊♂️🚶♂️😎🏖🏝🚣♂️⛵🚢🚢🚢
donnatello Posted September 13, 2020 #2 Share Posted September 13, 2020 If I'm not mistaken, didn't "Easy Cruise" or some company do that a few years ago? It was not well recieved and ended.
Rotterdam Posted September 19, 2020 Author #3 Share Posted September 19, 2020 I'm not familiar w EASYCRUISE...I was thinking more generally speaking of mainstream lines...so the ships would be floating hotels w paid for dining & experiences. In this day & age this business model might provide cruise lines with much needed cash...although I believe quality would suffer😪
cublet Posted September 28, 2020 #4 Share Posted September 28, 2020 Hello, Yes, easyCruise did absolutely everything a la carte - including paying for your room (and any part thereof) being made-up! I'm not basing this on personal experience but a documentary was made of it. I don't think the a la carte restaurant would work as I'm sure they don't currently employ staff with sufficient expertise to do much more than 'boil-in-the-bag' or flash a steak. Regards, Cublet
