I've not see that before, but It's a clever idea. Is it an actual film of the outside as it is happening, or a static picture?

Avril

Got this from cruise critic plus you can Google virtual balconies and there are a few on YouTube.

Graham.

That's very interesting. I would still opt for a real balcony though, as being able to step out into the fresh air is important  for us too.

We love a balcony cabin and have room service breakfast every morning on the balcony while sailing in to port.

The virtual balcony is a great idea though.

Yes it is. When I peeked inside one they seemed to be very claustrophobic and the virtual balcony makes them appear more open.

Our last inside cabin was 50 cruises ago when we had a window cabin on Oriana and I had to scramble across the bed to get in or out.

They are very small and claustrophobic and personally I would rather not cruise in one but I appreciate they are ideal for some people.

I agree. We opt for a balcony cabin it is nice to step out and have some fresh air and some peace and quiet away from everyone else sometimes.

We were upgraded, slightly, from our usual inside cabin to the one with the virtual balcony. It's a clever idea but I wouldn't pay extra for one.

We generally have an inside cabin as it means that we can cruise much more often and to more exotic destinations. We do occasionally opt for a balcony if it is somewhere exceptional where we would spend a large amount of time on it. We had an aft balcony for our cruises to Alaska, the Norwegian fjords and the one round the southern tip of South America because we knew the views would be spectacular and we can get a 180* view with very little wind either. We have an aft balcony booked for our Antarctica cruise in January but am betting that Celebrity will cancel that one as well.... booooooo.

Maybe I am just lucky but I don't get claustrophobic and we normally spend very little time in the cabin anyway.

Isabel

PS. I'm hoping that Damian is thinking about the next thread as we are getting close to the end of this one hahaha!
