sc4125 Posted December 8, 2020 #32 Share Posted December 8, 2020 I have a call in to PVP to book the Mardi Gras for August to replace our cancelled Breeze cruise. The Mardi Gras will be an Ultra casino cruise. I have rebooked so many times I've lost count - had 3 total that have been cancelled more than once. Surely by August things will be back, right? I need some reassurance (lol).
FiredogCruiser Posted December 8, 2020 #33 Share Posted December 8, 2020 After having our MardiGras cruise cancelled twice, we gave up on 2020 and 2021 and rebooked for January of 2022. One can only hope they survive until then. We had an RCL cruise also cancelled for January 2021. We are requesting a refund on that one, and will be interested in seeing what and when we actually receive any refund, and whether or not it is a full refund. I have no confidence in the government getting cruising operational, regardless of the procedures and precautions the cruise lines put in place. I am convinced that since the vast majority of cruising is done on foreign flagged vessels, resumption of cruising, and the jobs it provides, is simply not a priority. Florida seems to be the only place actively interested in the resumption of cruising, and that is only at two of the five ports that I am aware of.
stellarose Posted December 8, 2020 #34 Share Posted December 8, 2020 I will wait till the last minute to pay the cruise off. I figure by late summer I should know more.

If you paid your final payment, you would have been the beneficiary of 600 in OBC. So you basically shot yourself in the foot. OK? I knew what I was doing when I re-booked. I'm not blaming Carnival, just grumbling about my poor timing. Not sure I "shot myself in the foot" though - by making my final payment, I would have entered into a more restrictive cancellation period. If the cruise hadn't been officially cancelled, it may have cost me more to re-book. So it was a gamble either way.
