parrothead74 Posted October 1, 2020 #1 Share Posted October 1, 2020 I'm a NYer and the quarantine for 2 weeks returning home just won't work. I can't take 3 weeks off of work. Final payment due mid November for a February 2021 cruise on Horizon. Is it better to change to another sailing in the Fall of 2021 now or after final payment? Is there anything to lose or advantages/disadvantages? Advice would be appreciated, thanks!
cruizergal70 Posted October 1, 2020 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2020 Best advice is to pick out a new cruise, then call Carnival and use your nicest voice to request that they move over your deposit to the new cruise. Explain about the quarantine and all the uncertainty. No guarantees but they may change it with no penalty and your due date moves to next year. By waiting until after final payment, you have invested that cash for no good reason. Also, the sooner you do it, the more likely you will find a cruise/cabin you like. Also also, with today's announcement, they will be probably fairly lenient on folks expressing concern. But hold off a while - the phone lines will be jammed for the next week or so, I suspect. OTOH, you could wait and see if Carnival cancels it, and offers up that OBC deal if you re-book.
Kudos2Fly Posted October 3, 2020 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2020 Change before final payment and even sooner. We are in Florida so don't have that issue any more. But if you think returning from a cruise will be a hard hit to you financial and other wise change it now. Let Carnival know ahead of time. We had this issue back in June. Had a cruise booked with our grandkids. Didn't know what was going on with the whole Covid 19 thing. They extended our payment date to help us out. But we ended cancelling anyways. They worked with us. Be up front with them.
