Radiance Sailings Missing Until November 5, 2021

I just booked the Paradise for May last week - a re-book for the one cancelled in November.  I also have a February cruise scheduled - it was suppose to be on the Radiance but was switched to the Breeze out of Pt. Canaveral.  I can't believe they were scheduling Paradise just last week and now they are saying that she's out of commission until November???  Haven't received a cancellation email yet.

I haven't even received an email about my Breeze cruise in February being cancelled.  As a matter of fact, I just got an email a few days ago asking me to book excursions for that cruise.

Oh well, at least my September cruise on the Mardi Gras still looks like it might happen.

At this point, I'm not sure I even want to re-schedule the Breeze (8 day) or the Paradise (5 day). Although, I have over $700 OBC for the Paradise cruise, so I'm sure I will end up rescheduling that one to keep from losing the OBC as soon as more Casino deals are offered.

This is so aggravating!!!

I have/had the Radiance booked for, at the time, the inaugural out of Long Beach 4/23/21 and the 4 day after on 4/26/21... I have not heard anything regarding a cancellation... YET,  apart from anything already posted has anyone received any communication directly from Carnival?

I also have the April inaugural booked and now have the new November inaugural booked just in case...  I don't think the Radiance will be ready to go in April.  No communication from Carnival yet either...

I just did the same I had some FCC leftover so I put a deposit down, if and when the April trips gets cancelled I'll move those FCC's over to the 11/5 trip and book the 11/8 to redo my b2b

This is just speculation on my part, but I would not be surprised to see Carnival cancel the refurbishment. They are obviously short on cash, the conversions are not popular with many people, and the whole redo idea is to crowd as many people as possible into ever shrinking spaces - exactly the opposite of CDC guidelines.  I just do not see it as a viable action.

Carnival has a credit limit from here to the moon and back. They just floated something like $2 billion in unsecured notes (as in no collateral) at 7.625% - far below what they had to pay a few months ago.

I don't see Carnival as having a choice - they can't reclaim ships back from the scrapper.

As my friend mentioned, their credit is by far the best in the industry.  There is not a redo that can be tied to the CDC mandate.  Their plans will be for the Radiance to meet their standards.  If the CDC keeps the nd us try at a reduced amount for the long term, the industry is doomed. Everyone is planning for the end of the virus and  RETUEN TO NORMALCY in 12 to 18 months.

  • 2 weeks later...

Looks like the old date of 11/5 is no longer the inaugural, I'm going to have to call in and move my B2B dates up a few days,

Edit, Looking back at my recent cancellation email it says the following...

"Carnival Radiance

  •    Sailings through and including November 1, 2020"

but I did a mock booking online and it shows the 1st as available to book

I believe "officially", there is no date for the Radiance inaugural (other than 4/23/21). Based on what the booking engine shows today, it appears the inaugural might be on 11/1.  The 11/1 cruise was recently added to the booking engine (No Radiance cruises listed for Apr-Oct on the booking engine today).

When the 11/5 cruise was the first one listed a week or so ago, I assumed it was the inaugural and booked it.  Now since they added the 11/1, I am assuming it will be the inaugural and now I have booked that one too (I also have the 4/23/21 cruise booked too).

I did check with my PVP this morning and there are no "official" cancelations of the Radiance out of Long Beach (original inaugural was set for 4/23/21).  I believe the information on their website for Radiance cancelations was for when the Radiance was going to sail out of Galveston (I could be wrong).

Here's a thought....Maybe Carnival pulls the Miracle from San Diego to operate the 3/4 day cruise out of Long Beach until the Radiance arrives.  🤷‍♂️

Its possible , but Miracle cruises out of San Diego and SF still showing up to book. Our PVP tells us that our Radiance August cruise has not been cancelled, and I read that it was pulled because the CDC ( or someone) doesn't allow ships in dry dock to be put on the schedule until ready which should be sooner than Nov. That being said Im not expecting to sail in Aug...

Remainder of San Diego cruise season isn't the question since there likely won't be much left by the time ships are cruising and it's still southern CA even if Long Beach is left with only Panorama. The bigger question is what happens to this summer's San Francisco season? Due to no 8+ day cruises allowed by CDC through most of 2021, Carnival has already pulled the entire set of Alaska cruises leaving only a few 4 day Ensenda cruises through September before it returns to San Diego in October. Since the Radiance isn't arriving until November, the Miracle could split time between San Fran and Long Beach until the end of September with 3-4 day cruises as that could fill some of the holes for Long Beach while not abandoning San Fran completely.

Could be, but it looks like our 10/15 B2B is toast. 😎

I sure hope the Miracle takes those shorter trips. After booking airfare, we sure hope for a short cruise before the Panorama.  If not a road trip will be ok.

We haven't booked our airfare yet but we should be pulling the trigger shortly. If the Radiance is not ready, and the Miracle doesn't replace her, we'll probably do a B2B on the Panorama. 🤪

Read an article that makes it appear in absence of the 10 day Alaska cruises that won't happen due to ban on 8+ day cruises by CDC that Carnival is planning to bounce the Miracle between San Diego and San Fran with 2-5 day cruises this summer.

Ensenada is going to have a lot of cruise business if this happens.  Won't every cruise that originates in SF, LA, or San Diego that is less than five days have to stop in Ensenada?  I suppose Cabo is a possibility, but the ship would really have to move.  Otherwise, maybe some short cruises to nowhere?
