I am now registered for the vaccine!  Don’t know the timeline for the call from the County, but it is a relief to get the first step done.

My MIL was from the deep south and she taught me the traditional way, which is to use  jowl bacon for the new years' peas, even though they generally use hocks the rest of the year.  That is because on that day we are supposed to be looking forward, and the jowls are on the forward end of the pig while the hocks are on the back end.  Anyway, I still cook it the way she taught me. 

 

I saw jowl bacon in the grocery when I was getting the ham hocks today. I thought about trying some; I will give it a go next year!

Happy New Year's eve almost!  This daily has been a blessing to me.  May you all have a wonderful and safe New Year's evening.

Started taking some decorations down.  

Will have take our from our local Chinese restaurant.  Need to get our order in early afternoon tomorrow.  I am sure they will be busy. 

Hoping for a break in the rain tomorrow for a walk with friends and also on New Year's day.  A tradition is to walk the beach.  Weather permitting.

Looking forward to 2021 being a new beginning in a lot of ways.
