Coffee/Tea drinks package

For first time crossing next October have bitten the bullet and gone Queens Grill... I know it seems daft given that cost to question whether a coffee/tea package is worth getting but seeing as there is a machine in the room, is it still worth doing? Is there free coffee/tea in the Grills Lounge for example?

(Given the current £/$ exchange rate it's pretty cheap anyway!)

Tea and coffee are available in the Grill Lounge mid morning, free of charge and always available in the Concierge Lounge (with Danish pastries) on Deck 9. Otherwise it's Sir Samuels for the specialised coffees and hot chocolates.

Thanks, so along with machine in the room, sounds like even though it's $10/day/person it's not really necessary with a Grill's cabin.  (Assume coffee with meals). Don't need specialised coffee, just need good coffee!

We usually travel Princess Grill and order espresso or a latte after lunch and with breakfast in the Grill restaurant.  No problem.  So, yes, unless you plan to spend a lot of time in Sir Samuel's, which is a lovely space BTW, the pre-paid coffee package is not a good buy.

From the context, I'm assuming "Cambridge" means Massachusetts, USA (rather than UK), so I''m guessing when you ask about coffee, you mean regular old percolate-through-a-filter coffee ("a proper cup of coffee, made in a proper copper coffee pot", as it were).

As far as I can tell (can anyone help?), the in-room Illy machine uses capsules and makes only espresso or what they call "cafe lungo" - more or less cafe americano (i.e., diluted espresso). I've tried the lungo for my Nespresso machine, and it's ... okay, I guess? Still tastes like diluted espresso. (Don't get me wrong. I like espresso just fine; it's just not something to linger over. And diluting it seems like a crime.)

But it does sound like the concierge lounge has a pot of the good stuff. I presume that's what you can also get in the morning in the Grills Lounge, and at meals. I also wonder if room service would bring you pot in the morning.

(I've seen some sniffy remarks here about "American style coffee". Save 'em. It's what we drink.)

Don't get excited about the restaurant coffee. It's nothing to write home about.  The wait staff know to have a pot of stronger coffee ready for me which is then usually taken up by the whole table. I'll occasionally have a latte brought in from the lounge, after lunch.

For the machine coffee in the cabin, I have a jug of milk in the fridge, replaced every day by the butler. As a coffee drinker but not an aficionado, this meets my needs.

No! The original Cambridge not the American copy. Have Nespresso machines at home for espresso and lungo, so that is generally good enough for me and the other half.. could be a bit better which sounds like exists in the lounge
