FLL departure: too early?

Definitely a personal decision.   I can relate disembarking many times in Florida with no issues.  An 11am flight would have been fine.  Our last trip there was some sort of security issue.  Customs took 5 hours!  They were checking everything and examining lots of suitcases.

So do what works for you.

I just booked an 11:05 from FLL for a Sept Equinox cruise on SWA.   Of course if we are being delayed I can cancel and get my miles refunded and just rent a car and drive home if I can't get on a later flight.

 

Always have to have a plan B and C.

Given the rental car shortage,  you may not be able to get a rental car for a one-way trip.  Maybe Plan B should also reserve a car.

Excellent suggestion.   I was looking at one-way with Avis the other day and said none available.  National has one available today at a good rate $114 total, they are usually over $200.

Excellent comments from all posters. I’ll book a transfer for now, keep an eye on cruisers reporting and see next February/March if I should play it safe.
