Slyfox16 Posted June 6, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2021 We are on the 11/6/21 sailing of the Crown through the Panama Canal. When in the canal can you do your own tours or do they have to be the Princess' ones?
BabsinTX Posted June 7, 2021 #2 Share Posted June 7, 2021 We're on that cruise too. Don't know about the excursions, but we did a good one through Princess in Panama City a few years ago.
caribill Posted June 7, 2021 #3 Share Posted June 7, 2021 While in the Canal (Gatun Lake), only Princess tours are allowed.
skynight Posted June 7, 2021 #4 Share Posted June 7, 2021 Only those that have booked ship tours will be allowed off the ship in Panama. This is not new because of covid. It has always been this way for partial transits like yours. The ship enters the Agua Clara locks early in the morning, around 6am. It takes around two hours to transit the three locks into Gatun Lake. While in Gatun Lake those that have booked Princess tours are tendered to a local yacht club dock. After the tour your bus returns you to Cristobal to re-board the ship.
Cornteen Posted July 9, 2021 #5 Share Posted July 9, 2021 That kinda sucks. I was stationed there early 80s and would have loved to see my old stomping grounds.

Princess runs full transits with a full day at the port of Fuerte Amador for Panama City. Pre-covid you could explore on your own. Post covid, don't know.
Rare Rick&Jeannie Posted July 9, 2021 #7 Share Posted July 9, 2021 (edited) We did the last PC full transit on the Pacific Princess just before Covid hit. We did NOT port in Panama City... Edited July 9, 2021 by Rick&Jeannie

There are some 14 day itineraries on the Island that do not make this port stop.
