I Luv Crusin Posted February 15, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2006 I had a confirmed inside "I" category cabin on the Veendam. I was looking at availability on my April 1 departure and it looked like the prices went down. So I called CVC (Carnival Vacation Club) and they were able to book us in an outside "H" GTD cabin for the same price. On one hand I'm a little annoyed because the price for a "H" GTD was lower than the "I" that I had. They said that I couldn't get the lower price because I'm within cancellation. I'm still happy though because I now am guaranteed an outside cabin! There seems to be plenty of cabins available. What is the chance that we may be upgraded. Any chance of being upgraded to a suite? (Long shot I know) How soon does HAL confirm cabins for GTDs? Is there a way to find out "early"? Sometimes with a Carnival booking you can see the GTD cabin they've assigned. FlorenceItaly Posted February 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2006 my personal experience and observation is that HAL rarely upgrades. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, just not often. Have a wonderful cruise on the Veendam. She is a lovely ship :). Marie
Islandbuoy Posted February 15, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2006 My experience says that they are filling up the porthole rooms. Expect to get room 709 or similar. Nice rooms , but up front and noisy during docking.

Krazy Kruizers Posted February 15, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2006 Outside cabins are better than inside cabins any time!! Keep going to the immigration form and checking to see if a cabin has been assigned to you. Sometimes HAL won't assign a cabin until the last week. Some have had to wait until they get to the pier.
