logan25 Posted June 21, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2021 Royal Caribbean in talks with the island to let their ships port their as soon as late summer or fall 2021. https://www.cruisehive.com/royal-caribbean-in-discussions-to-begin-cruises-to-grand-turk/52279
Rare crewsweeper Posted June 28, 2021 #2 Share Posted June 28, 2021 This could be good for Grand Turk. But once Carnival, HAL, and Princess are fully up, scheduling could get crowded. And I believe Carnival has controlling or major interest in the port there. so would they allow RCCL ships to dock or would Royal have to tender in? They've allowed at least two Royal ships to make port there; both were full-boat charters and I can only assume RC paid a premium for the port visits. I was on the second visit, by Independence of the Seas back in January 2019 (as part of the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise). Since Grand Turk is one of my favorite ports, I was overjoyed (AND surprised) when they announced it for that year's installment of the cruise. Much bigger ship than Grand Turk normally sees, too. Seemed as if the ship stretched almost all the way to Jack's Shack. 🙂 With a max capacity of only two ships at once, I can't imagine Grand Turk soliciting too much business from non-CCL lines.
