Reserve steakhouse

Will be on Liberty in January. For wife’s birthday wanted to put in reservation for the steakhouse. Looks we need to prepay with credit card first. Was hoping to reserve and pay with our $500 obc. Is there a way around this now or will we need to make reservations once when we get on board? Also, her birthday is first night of the cruise.

Welcome to Cruise Critic! There's a wealth of information on this forum, and a lot of great people to get to know. At times there are several of us who love to argue for arguments sake, but on the whole it's a very useful exchange of information and shared interests.

   Now to answer your question(finally, lol). unfortunately  No. The OBC can only be used once you get on board....not before. Soooo, if you are determined to use your OBC for the steakhouse you can make reservations at the Guest Services desk once you get on board. As you are dining there on the first night, be sure and ask for your free bottle of wine!

Thanks Joe, that’s what we were thinking but just wanted to confirm. Also thanks for welcoming us to cruise critic. Was on here years before under a different name. Stopped cruising for various reasons. Now retired in Florida ready to get back to cruising. Have two already booked for 2022.

I have never had to pre-pay the steakhouse.  

You can email the steakhouse to reserve. Not sure if the Liberty is up and running yet.

It changed in 2019 to prepay to book.

Thank you. I didn't know that. Last Carnival cruise 2018.

We usually book a table for 6 or 8 people, solos meeting up again. So that's a nuisance.

While the pre-pay is resolved, no you don't email the steakhouse to reserve. You do it through your cruise planner.

The switch to pre-pay was due to too many people no-showing to their reservations.

I've tried at least 6x times today to make a steakhouse reservation for July 27. Error every time:
SOMETHING WENT WRONG AND THE ORDER WAS NOT PROCESSED.

I booked ours a couple of hours ago, along with 2 other couples. We were able to with no issues. Cruise is in Oct.

The MRS. and I have never good luck booking the steakhouse, when we first got on the ship. As far as getting reservations for the (first night…) The first night, we have found is normally all booked up, by the time you step foot on that ship. So we always Well in advance, Book and pay for the steakhouse for our first night.
