You can get a drink package on both Carnival or Royal Caribbean for just one of two adult guests in the same room. The caveat is you will need a letter, from ones MD, DO, internist, etc., stating why one adult is unable to consume alcohol due to a medical condition. This letter will become part of the person's permanent profile and only needs to be submitted once. This person will have to purchase the Bubbles package.

Have done this for my SO many times over the years. You will have to call customer service to get it processed correctly, can't be purchased this way online.

Are you sure that Carnival will do this? I know that RCCL has done this in the past, but haven't heard of CCL doing this.

I have a cruise scheduled for next year using a Casino offer - free balcony and free drinks everywhere onboard.  My niece always purchases the drink package and whoever rooms with her also purchases it.  However, she is rooming with my sister (her mother) who also has the casino offer of free drinks everywhere on the ship.

Have tried to ask our PVP how this will work as obviously my sister doesn't want to purchase since she will already have it for free.  Still haven't gotten an answer - to be honest my new PVP is close to useless.  Unfortunately the good one left the company during it's shutdown.  Guess we'll just wait until cruise gets closer.

If anyone else is in this situation and has an answer for us it would be greatly appreciated.

We actually thought of doing this, lol. But it would be a huge p.i.a.! Especially when purchases are made for other stuff.

If you really want cheers this is probably the best work around. It really doesn't have to be that complicated when setting up accounts. I've done this on trips before. Just have everyone set up with their own accounts charging privileges. You can still back both your and your wife's account with the same card.

How does tipping and all that work? IDK, maybe this will work for us.

each persons tips are assessed to their own account. So split down the middle in each. And then each persons personal charges go on their own account. I’ve roomed with non-household members multiple times. There weren’t any issues getting the accounts separate and charges straight.

I just wouldn’t try anything funny like moving rooms once onboard or trying to combine accounts from two rooms. KISS. Two rooms, four accounts. One person from each room just gets a extra key for the other room. So two people have 1 card for charges and 1 card for the room key.

This will be the first I heard of it too.  I'm just checking in because these don't usually get to two pages because the simple answer, up until the comment klfhnger is referring to,  is:  no.

I really love not worrying about cost on my cruise, but every time I say I'm not going to get it again.

This is my sister and I.  My son frequently cruises with us though, and we know we'd be in the hole if we didn't get it with him.  I'm generally footing the bill, because he helps me a ton throughout the year and is a great travel companion, as well as super handy to have along.  My sis and I have one on our own next spring though, and we're definitely not getting it.  It won't be a fair comparison though, because I have "drink free anywhere on the ship" and a $400 obc for her to use.  One of these days we'll put it to the test.

As I said we do it all the time too!

When you set up your account before sailing, you can choose to allow charging privilege's to a person in a different room, and exclude the 2nd in your room.  It's really not that hard, just have to pay attention when you set it up.  So when you do your room, you can exclude the other person in your room and add your wife from the other room on yours - and do the same thing for the other two people.  This means anything your wife uses her card for... goes on your card.  Anything they use their card for - goes to their card.  This is gratuities too, these are assigned by person and charged to the card on file when set up.  When you check in at the dock, all 4 of you will go up together and they can make sure it is correct as well.

Then like I said once on board just go to guest services and your wife will ask for a "door" card for your room, and the other person can do the same for the other room.  This will give them a 2nd card that will just open the door to the correct room.
