RetiredRich Posted July 8, 2021 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2021 I need to book our complimentary meals on the Alaska cruise. Can someone tell me the formal days on the ship? I'm guessing it is Tuesday and Thursday. I don't want to book them on formal nights. Any help appreciated. Sailing on the August 28 and cannot wait. Post your port schedule here and someone likely will be able to offer you a guess. We like to do the Pinnacle on the last night as it almost never is a formal night AND it is a nice way to wind up the cruise.
kevingastreich Posted July 8, 2021 #3 Share Posted July 8, 2021 We have a few comp. meals on our next cruise and the fine print said that HAL would do the booking. I hope we can change it if we are not happy. As a side note, one time we did eat in Canaletto on a Gala night and when I jokingly mentioned to the server that I was missing my free lobster, she went and got one for me! It was awesome. 3
Loreto Posted July 8, 2021 #4 Share Posted July 8, 2021 Having done the Alaska itinerary a number of times, and being booked on the July 31sailing, I would say that the first sea day will be gala and Ketchikan will be the 2nd. The last night has never been gala. Rudi's Sel De Mer is on the evening in Sitka. We are in port late for Juneau and Icy Strait Point, so I would rule those day out for Gala night. We were supposed to have the complimentary meals assigned, but I think with the promo posting on itinerary you can book it yourself at the web site or call Dining...which is what I did. The agent said the HAL system crashed yesterday morning when so many called to book dining and use the shore excursion credit. Hopefully things are resolved today!
Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted July 8, 2021 #5 Share Posted July 8, 2021 For HAL Alaska this year I am pretty sure the Gala/Formal nights will be Sunday and Thursday which is exactly what it has been for every Alaska cruise that left on Saturday has been since 2004 when I took my first cruise to Alaska on the Oosterdam. I'm not the OP but wondering the same thing about our B2B Panama Canal cruises. Here are the two itineraries (16 and 14 nights); I'd certainly appreciate best guesses as to when the Gala nights would be (I realize they would just be best guesses!): Cruise 1 (16 nights) THU 05JAN23 Sail from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, US 4:00pm FRI 06JAN23 Half Moon Cay, Bahamas 1,2 8:00am 4:00pm SAT 07JAN23 Sea Day SUN 08JAN23 Sea Day MON 09JAN23 Oranjestad, Aruba 8:00am 6:00pm TUE 10JAN23 Sea Day WED 11JAN23 Panama Canal THU 12JAN23 Sea Day FRI 13JAN23 Puerto Caldera (Puntarenas), Costa Rica 7:00am 5:00pm SAT 14JAN23 Corinto, Nicaragua 9:00am 5:00pm SUN 15JAN23 Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala 7:00am 5:00pm MON 16JAN23 Huatulco, Mexico 1:00pm 7:00pm TUE 17JAN23 Sea Day WED 18JAN23 Puerto Vallarta, Mexico 10:00am 8:00pm THU 19JAN23 Sea Day FRI 20JAN23 Sea Day SAT 21JAN23 Debark Ship San Diego, California, US Cruise 2 (14 nights) SAT 21JAN23 Sail from San Diego, California, US 4:00pm SUN 22JAN23 Sea Day MON 23JAN23 Sea Day TUE 24JAN23 Puerto Vallarta, Mexico 7:00am 3:00pm WED 25JAN23 Sea Day THU 26JAN23 Huatulco, Mexico 8:00am 2:00pm FRI 27JAN23 Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala 10:00am 8:00pm SAT 28JAN23 Sea Day SUN 29JAN23 Sea Day MON 30JAN23 Panama Canal TUE 31JAN23 Cartagena, Colombia 12:00n 6:00pm WED 01FEB23 Sea Day THU 02FEB23 Sea Day FRI 03FEB23 Half Moon Cay, Bahamas 3,4 8:00am 3:00pm SAT 04FEB23 Debark Ship Fort Lauderdale, Florida, US Thanks for any help! On the longer cruises it is much harder to guess the Gala nights, but in both of these cruise the last Gala night very likely will be the Thursday before the end of the cruise (Sat. departure). First Gala likely on the first Sea Day.
