greatestvalue Posted July 21, 2021 #1 Share Posted July 21, 2021 I looked up what an antigen test was seeing that thus far NCL is saying we will be required to have one to embark and this was the result: "A fluid sample is collected with a nasal swab or a throat swab, or you may spit into a tube to produce a saliva sample". So which will NCL do? I would much rather spit into a tube or have my throat swab than have someone other than whom I know is a nurse and/or Dr stick anything up my nose. Just saying....LOL
Kealy Posted July 21, 2021 #2 Share Posted July 21, 2021 I am hoping for a buccal (cheek) swab, but so far, all my tests have been nasal. Joy....

Just saying....LOL My 3rd July MSC was a nasal swab, we took a small mirror with us and asking if I could do my own swab, they were more than happy to let us do it ourselves. I will certainly try this again with NCL on my next trip.

Yes at checkin 15-30 minutes foe results You are confined in the terminal until you pass. If you don’t pass, there will be additional protocols. And ultimately if you fail retests you become a statistic when they report you to the Washington Dept of Health and NCL will help you arrange for quarantine or a Covid transport home ($$$$). 1

It's done right at the front inside of the nose. Very quick results. Painless. 1

Non-evasive.
Rare BirdTravels Posted July 21, 2021 #12 Share Posted July 21, 2021 I had intended to include this on my earlier message. The instructions for administering this test are as follows: Anterior Nasal (Nares) Swab Only the swab provided in the kit is to be used for nasal swab collection. To collect a nasal swab sample, carefully insert the entire absorbent tip of the swab (usually ½ to ¾ of an inch (1 to 1.5 cm) into the nostril. Firmly sample the nasal wall by rotating the swab in a circular path against the nasal wall 5 times or more for a total of 15 seconds, then slowly remove from the nostril. Using the same swab, repeat sample collection in the other nostril.
