Rare MogeyMan Posted July 28, 2021 #1 Share Posted July 28, 2021 After 40 years of landlording and 15 years of cruising with the worries of our properties, we sold out, and are treating ourselves to our first Neptune. We like a lot, a LOT, of ice in our cabin, and typically bring a collapsible cooler that we keep on the balcony and tip our steward well to keep it full of ice. The ice bucket in the room does not suffice, we've had them fill a champagne bucket with ice and it's just not enough. Do we need bring the cooler with us in our first Neptune, or is there a supply of ice in the Lounge? We're beyond excited, but trying to be practical. Rare Crew News Posted July 28, 2021 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2021 The Neptune Lounge is open until 8:30 and the Concierge has access to an ice machine in the nearby hallway. That said, sometimes the "Be back later" sign is on their desk. Room Stewards have been seen in the hallways as late as 8:00 and they would be happy to fill your cooler for you. I would avoid the risk and bring your collapsible cooler.
Rare kazu Posted July 28, 2021 #3 Share Posted July 28, 2021 Ice is definitely available from the Neptune Lounge or even your steward. But, if the ice bucket is not sufficient for you, refilled several times a day, you’ll probably still want to bring your cooler.
rucrazy Posted July 28, 2021 #4 Share Posted July 28, 2021 We always ask our stateroom attendant to replace our smaller ice bucket container in our suite to be replaced by an Ice Bucket (normally used for wine) and to please make sure we have plenty of ice.. On our last voyage they made sure to refill it 3 times a day.... never had a problem. (of course I slipped him a twenty when I made the request)
Torquer Posted July 28, 2021 #5 Share Posted July 28, 2021 We also like lots of ice (it is horrible in European hotels where they usually don't even have an ice machine...ugh). You will find that the stewards in the Neptune and Pinnacle suites are extremely attentive to your needs; they are usually assigned to those suites because they are the best on the ship. Just tell them on the first day and I'm sure they will be happy to keep your ice bucket filled 3 or 4 times a day. In addition, if you ever run out, just call the concierge (no need to go to the lounge yourself). They will quickly send over a steward. Your are paying a lot in these suites for spectacular service and you will definitely get it, if you just ask.
