wdw1972 Posted August 1, 2021 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2021 Hopefully someone will know the answer to this - it's never been an issue for me before. For a number of reasons (mostly cancellations & early payment incentives) I have more onboard credit than I need, with nothing to spend it on besides one excursion I'm interested in and then spending needlessly in the shops. At least the new logo clothing looks nice, so I can bring some of that home for both of us. I hate spa stuff, have prepaid gratuities, beverage package, free wifi and free Pinnacle & Tamarind dinners so not much left but the shops. We're planning to do Sel de Mer (on Rotterdam) the first night - booking in advance, I'll pay full price via credit card. Once onboard, they'll credit my account for $20/dinner. If at the end of the cruise I still have a credit balance equal to that $20/dinner, will it be refunded to my credit card? Sue/WDW1972
Mandalay1903 Posted August 2, 2021 #2 Share Posted August 2, 2021 Maybe buy a gift for your cabin steward team, or make an additional contribution to gratuities for the crew...

KirkNC Posted August 2, 2021 #4 Share Posted August 2, 2021 I doubt it but you never know.
wdw1972 Posted August 2, 2021 Author #5 Share Posted August 2, 2021 Thanks everyone. I booked the dinners last night, and however it works out will be fine. What matters is being back on a dam ship again! Sue/WDW1972
Rare kazu Posted August 2, 2021 #6 Share Posted August 2, 2021 I have never had it left over but since it’s OBC from HAL I think it would fall into the non-refundable category. If it’s left over, I would tend to increase the crew incentive (HSC).
Florida_gal_50 Posted August 2, 2021 #7 Share Posted August 2, 2021 I’m going to be contrary to the other posters. I believe you would be refunded the money as you paid it yourself. I’m pretty sure this happened to me but it was a while ago. That said, don’t take this to the bank because I’m not 100 percent sure.
Rare kazu Posted August 2, 2021 #8 Share Posted August 2, 2021 Good point on you paid for it yourself so it SHOULD be refunded. But, since HAL refunds via OBC my fear is their computer system is sophisticated enough to differentiate and would treat it as non refundable. I went to look at one of my old statements and it states Loyalty discount. It doesn’t say not for use in casino or cash as most of HAL’s OBC does. Hmmmm. That's what I was thinking (and I also checked my old statements and noticed the same as you). I'll try to remember to report back in mid December. If it's not spent and will be refunded to my credit card then great. If it won't be refunded, I'll get it to the crew fund - I'm fine either way. In the grand scheme of things $60 is a drop in the proverbial bucket 😉 Sue/WDW1972
MikeD4134 Posted August 2, 2021 #10 Share Posted August 2, 2021 I would ask HAL, I have been using the chat function on their website, for most times I have received answers very quickly.
