Insurance refund on cancelled carnival cruise

Talked to customer service and said vacation protection it is not refundable even before final payment date. They did tell me to talk to resolution department to see if they can do anything. So when I have time to call (put on hold) I will call again. It is hard to get in touch with carnival in these times.

First let me say I hope you get refunded.

 

I'm going to come at this from the insurance companies "possible" thinking on this.

 

Carnival just sells the insurance as a "convenience to the customer". One stop shopping and all that. It's also a profit center for them. However, Carnival has nothing to do with the insurance. I believe the insurance is actually AON and they are the ones sharing the risk with you.

Since the insurance policy includes a CFAR rider, (Cancel For Any Reason), I could see their stance that they have been at risk of loss since the moment the policy was bought.

 

I may be way off base.
