janmcn Posted February 16, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2006 We'll be taking the Statendam's cruise Southbound to Vancouver from Seward Aug. 18 and would like input from folks as to whether to take the train or the bus from Anchorage to Seward....also, should we do it "via HAL" or on our own. Input, please. Thanks... Jan McN
Krazy Kruizers Posted February 16, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2006 HAL's train and buses take you right to the pier area. The other train does not go directly to the pier. We did the train a couple of years ago. It was all right. We kept watching the buses pass us by - they got there a couple of hours ahead of us. Both go through beautiful scenery. Rare Roz Posted February 16, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 16, 2006 One of the things I liked about the train is that there were waiters who would bring you coffee, muffins, sandwiches, etc. Also, we got to see some waterfalls (and a moose!) that the people on the bus didn't get to enjoy.
