Having to book Cruise excursions

As  of the UK Covid restrictions are being lifted from the 16th August is it not time for cruise ships to allow

their passengers to get off in ports without having to book the ships excursions?

The additional costs of these excursions make the cruise so much more expensive and is very unfair to

enforce this once the restrictions are lifted.

Southampton Travel Requirements as of August 2, 2021

Travel requirements vary by homeport country. Be sure you’re aware of both homeport country and Celebrity Cruises vaccine and testing requirements as they may differ. We will continually evaluate and update these requirements and protocols as new information becomes available. Booked guests will be advised of the latest requirements leading up to departure.

Vaccination Policy

Only residents of England, Scotland, Wales, The Channel Islands and Northern Ireland are permitted to sail at this time. Guests aged 18 years and older must be fully vaccinated with all Covid-19 vaccine doses administered at least 14 days prior to sailing. Proof of vaccination will be required. All Crew members onboard will be vaccinated.

How To Show Your Vaccination Status

Guests must show their vaccination status via the NHS app on their phone when they arrive at the pier.

  • English guests: should click here to download the NHS App
  • Scottish guests: should click here to download the Scottish NHS APP
  • Welsh guests: are able to request a vaccination certificate for travel, it can take up to 10 working days for the certificate to arrive so please leave sufficient time. Please click here.
  • Northern Ireland guests: As Northern Ireland guests still do not have a proof of vaccination solution available, we will accept the vaccination cards until a solution is found.

For guests who live in areas where an NHS APP isn’t yet enabled – guests have two options for showing their vaccination status. Either one of the two options below will be sufficient:

By showing a vaccination certificate

OR

By showing a signed doctor's letter

The vaccination certificate or doctor’s' letter must show the dates of the 2 vaccinations which must be administered at least 14 days prior to the cruise departure date. A printout or a digital copy will be accepted.

Guests who have had their vaccinations administered in countries outside of the UK, will need to bring proof of their vaccinations along with proof of residency in the UK. Accepted proof of vaccination status is either a doctor’s letter or vaccination certificate. Please click here for a list of accepted documents for proof of UK residency.

Celebrity will consider a guest fully vaccinated with proof of vaccination that can include mixed doses of the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines. Guests sailing on Celebrity Silhouette from Southampton can have mixed doses that include AstraZeneca, as long as, the AstraZeneca dose is administered first, and then either the Pfizer or Moderna dose within 8-12 weeks. No other mixed vaccine doses will be accepted.

While Ashore

Celebrity Cruises has developed a rich selection of shore excursions, working with local tour operators to ensure that they are not only enriching and inspiring, but also that they follow local government health protocols. The selection of excursions offers a wide variety for all interests. To ensure we adhere to the protocols defined by UK government, we are only permitted to allow guests who have booked an excursion through Celebrity Cruises to debark Celebrity Silhouette when in port.
