Woop, read that wrong the first time.  No tax is collected while in any port other than the original embarkation port of Seattle which should be 10.1%

I am not sure why NCL would charge a Tax on drinks while you are in Seattle. I was on the Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam July 24th and had several drinks prior to departure while on the ship, no tax was charged. Nor was there on Princess sailings or the last couple of HAL cruises that sailed from Seattle. My last NCL in September 2018 was out of Seattle and we also were not charged any tax on drinks then. The only time I remember getting charged tax on drinks was sailing out of Texas on the Jewel.

Yes is depends on the deal.  Seattle charges a tax on all drinks in port.  It doesn't matter the cruise line.  The Cruise line must pay the tax.  It's up to the cruise line if they pass the tax on to the customer.

FWIW in 2019 we were in Juneau with the Jewel.  We did an NCL sponsored helicopter/dogsled excursion.  On the bus back from the heliport we went through downtown and the driver stopped to let people off who chose to do so.  There was some mention in a previous post about that not being allowed this time, Ketchikan maybe?, but in our experience it worked.

Thanks for the info.  I was basing that off of Bird saying in Ketchikan that they were not allowed to get off at Creek Street.  It wouldn't be such a big deal except that NCL seems to dock about as far away as they can (and builds new docks just to make sure you can't walk to the action). I guess we can ask and see what happens.

Okay, you made me google pai gow. 😆  Possibly the only thing I'll learn all day....

My husband learned to play in Vegas and he is usually able to print me crisp 100 bills for me to run through the slots LOL

Yes. The coin pushers were operational in the Skyline Bar, Deck 7 Aft. I don’t recall anything that was closed due to COVID. They did not offer behind the scenes tours or dinners with the officers because the CDC did not approve close contact between passengers and crew.

Yes the Vibe was open and they sell passes in The Social (Deck 6 Midship) on embarkation day.

While no one wants to be unwell  while on vacation, the medical center is open in the morning and in the afternoon for walk-ins and available on the phone 24/7. If you need some first aide, vending machines are available.

Was there face up pai gow? Sorry can't see it here from photos.

I seriously doubt it, last cruise they barely had Pai Gow (no side bets and was only open in the evenings).

There was a video posted on YouTube of the testing done yesterday. It went very smoothly and was done in the conference room/center at the pier. This person’s check in time was 11:30 and they were done and seated in the American Cafe for lunch by 12:50. The ship left Seattle on time at 5:00 p.m.

Thank you for mentioning the video. I was wondering how testing went on the current cruise and the video really helped. It sounds like they fixed some of those issues.

The Bird attended the General Manager’s reception. A number of the senior officers are scheduled to move on to the Prima. Lots of long days of work to get the ship ready for her first voyage.
