Kruisn'Kay Posted September 24, 2021 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2021 Good evening! I have already made the final payment for my Nov. cruise and the price has dropped by $700. Does NCL offer OBC for the difference? Are there any other options? Thank you for your help!
Shirlcon21 Posted September 24, 2021 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2021 Anytime that happened my TA got us an upgraded room. We never got money back. It’s definitely worth a call.
Shellbelle28 Posted September 24, 2021 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2021 (edited) My travel agent just got off the phone with NCL about the same question for a cruise I'm on next month. They told her the "new" policy is the difference of $200 per person and above will be credited at 25% in Future Cruise Credit, not OBC. My TA said that is the first she's heard of FCC instead of OBC being credited and she's going to call again tomorrow and see if they give the same answer. They did discuss "upgrading" but we're in an aft penthouse and don't want something different. Edited September 24, 2021 by Shellbelle28
Sixtytwo Posted September 24, 2021 #4 Share Posted September 24, 2021 Did you do a mock booking to find out the price had dropped? We are still about 6 months from our TA but sure would enjoy the thought of a possible upgrade or even a FCC!
Rare Travelicious Posted September 24, 2021 #5 Share Posted September 24, 2021 I wouldn't complain about FCC. But I was just able to get upgraded to a balcony with Free at Sea from an inside sail away when price dropped after final payment. I think I like that better. ChiefMateJRK Posted September 25, 2021 #8 Share Posted September 25, 2021 I was able to upgrade to a nice Ocean View from an inside (not that there's anything wrong with that) for a whopping $1.40 yesterday. The Balconies are now $105 more. I'm watching.....

I've been watching the prices and have now upgraded twice, going from an inside to an Ocean View to a Balcony for a total of $106.40. We figured that is likely as cheap of a premium as we'll ever pay to see what a Balcony room is like. Insides suit us just fine, but what the heck.
Rare Mlake09 Posted September 25, 2021 #12 Share Posted September 25, 2021 (edited) Hi all, we are 15 days out from a Bermuda cruise on Breakaway. We noticed a significant price drop ($600 total). We called about that today and the choice was to get 25 percent of the difference added to our on board account, or to cancel and receive the money as FCC. Since we have multiple cruises booked, we canceled and took the $600 as a FCC. The person on the phone was able to cancel us while keeping all of our existing reservations and the stateroom we had originally selected. The only thing we had to do was redo the online check in (we are sailing soon). In my opinion, it was worth it to cancel and rebook! I am considering changing to haven for my 2023 but I worry that once I go there I won’t want to go back. It is a slippery slope I guess. My 2022 is a club balcony suite which is what I also have booked for 2023 but I really want to experience the haven one time and my 40th wedding anniversary in 2023 seems like the perfect time. We shall see I have time to think about it.

This is a real "danger" of this bargain. 🤣 I'm looking forward to having a balcony room. At the end of the day, I doubt it will make much difference to us, as we're generally only in the room for sleeping, but you never know. 😎 As long as I'm on a ship, the rest are really just details. A bit more than $150, but that represented just the gratuities on the dinner and beverage package, as I did not have it before.

Not on the ship, you have to do it pre-cruise. That was the first I have heard of the policy. Interesting.

I was offered $25pp in future cruise credit for a $450 difference in fare. I decided to wait and see if the price drops more.

Nice try but I would guess that you can't use any FCC from a price adjustment for the same cruise - hence the word "future". Just like you can't use the FCC you get if you cancel to rebook the same cruise. They want you to book another cruise.

A subject I wish I never had to learn about. 100% which is 1 dollar of cash, for 1 dollar of future cruise credits. Then some of us at the beginning of cancellations got an extra 25%. I had extra 100% FCC, just use them pre-Cruise for excursions, upgraded internet to unlimited streaming, and upgrade to the Premium Plus drink package. NCL has some crazy rules for sure however there is a way around most anything if you ask the right questions.

But if I understand your comments, you are talking about FCC that you got from a cruise that NCL cancelled. Been there, done that - and yes, they have different rules. But different again from FCC if you cancel under peace of mind or get FCC because of a price-reduction after final payment. What you can't do is cancel a cruise under POM when prices drop, then use the FCC to rebook the same cruise.

AnitaVacation Posted September 26, 2021 #24 Share Posted September 26, 2021 I just noticed a price drop that equates to about $245 for us....I'm going to call my guy, but not expecting anything...some obc or casino free play would be nice...not worth the bother of canceling and rebooking, I would probably lose our $70 travel insurance....maybe it will go even lower... A few years ago, a friend and I booked adjoining studios and there was a huge price drop and the second passenger supplement dropped and we each took a balcony for $50...I asked/requested for an aft balcony, and got one!! It was sweet!!
