Cruise Next - No longer purchase with non-refundable credits :(

I am sure this has not been reported before, I just did a search as I have been away for 3 weeks with 1 week on the Encore, nothing showed up on a search.

It turns out non-refundable credit can no longer be used to purchase Cruise Next vouchers.

This is a bit of a blow to me as I always used my shareholder benefit to purchase/part-purchase Cruise Next. I ended up having to blow my credit in the duty free

Cruise Next has joined the Casino and Gratuities as the third item you can now not spend the credits on 😒

The Encore Customer services told me the change of policy and the Encore Cruise Next manager confirmed to me and said this is a permanent change.

It has been mentioned a few times within some posts on different topics.  But still is worth a thread of its own.

It's unfortunate, but I'm also surprised they let it be done for as long as they did.  It really was double dipping, so to speak, on the benefits.  It was good for us, but not so good for NCL.  I'm sad to see it go.

I wonder if I can use my On Board credit from my NCL credit card to pay for cruise next... I guess I will find out December when I am on the Breakaway...

I will depend on what type of credit the credit card provides, if it's refundable then you will be find but I expect it will be non-refundable (otherwise you could just cash in at the end of the cruise).

If non-refundable then it will not be able to be used as the ship does not care where it came from they only see refundable or non-refundable.

But there was another change for the better imho anyway.  I was able to buy some without getting any additional obc.  So just paid the $125 each, got 3 (to even up what I had to use as doubles).  So still advertised as buy 2..4... but not holding to it - get the number you want, no obc to use up.

The OBC from a Cruise Next was always refundable so you just withdrew it on the last day if you had not already spent it 😂

No, that's gone the same way as the shareholder credit.  We weren't able to use either one of those for CruiseNext on our 10/3 Gem cruise.
