familycruzer Posted October 25, 2021 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2021 (edited) Breakaway out of NOLA .. which side of the ship has better views out to sea and how do you tell where the bed is from the deck plans? My available cabins are listed below Edited October 25, 2021 by familycruzer
wacruiselover Posted October 25, 2021 #2 Share Posted October 25, 2021 I can't speak of which side would be best for a NOLA cruise but to make sure that I am getting the bed placement I prefer, I go to the NCL website and do a mock booking. At the point where you are able to select the stateroom it will tell you the bed placement. If you already have booked a room, you will not be able to select it on the same voyage but you can do mock bookings for other dates on the same ship. If you are booking through a TA they may not show the bed placement information.

Rare melodyesch Posted October 25, 2021 #4 Share Posted October 25, 2021 (edited) For the view of the city of New Orleans you’d want the port side during the short time for sail away. But there are no sea views because you’re on the river for several hours during the dark. You’ll enter the gulf in the wee hours. kdpatte Posted October 26, 2021 #5 Share Posted October 26, 2021 If I am not mistaken I believe it takes 8 hours to get down the river to ocean. So melodyesch is correct you won't see it when you finally get to the ocean.
Carnac767 Posted October 26, 2021 #6 Share Posted October 26, 2021 Ships rarely cruise in sight of land unless they're coming into port or they're going through a strait. Close to land is where all the dangers are, such are shoals, reefs, sandbars, rocks, etc. It really makes no difference what side of the ship your cabin is located. If you miss something coming into port, you'll see it from you cabin on the way out.
AndyCapn Posted October 26, 2021 #7 Share Posted October 26, 2021 New Orleans will be on the port side and where almost everything worth seeing will be located before dark. I used this write-up (post #4) when we sailed in 2017. Here in a more recent write-up:
ClevelandCruisin Posted October 26, 2021 #8 Share Posted October 26, 2021 When we arrived back for departure, you couldn't see a fly in front of you due to the fog. Reminded me of that movie Ghost Ship. I've never seen fog that thick.
ClevelandCruisin Posted October 26, 2021 #9 Share Posted October 26, 2021 When you leave port after arrival, you will see many refineries along the river, the sights weren't that exciting on the port side.

The chain of them are brightly lit.

fethiyeden Posted October 27, 2021 #13 Share Posted October 27, 2021 From the videos I’ve watched the bed is in the extra space. So 10810 bed by entrance. 10812 bed by the balcony. 10814. Bed by the entrance. sofr 1
