Is that a hole by your fingers for the "hook"?

I have a retraceable tag holder attached. That is what I am holding. The hard plastic portion with a slot to attach the lanyard is what came from Princess.

Captain just announced there has been a delay with getting the luggage on board. He said the X-ray machines had some issues which had caused the delay. I suspect this is because we are at terminal 21 which is an older terminal. I think next week we will be sailing out of terminal 2 which is the new terminal. Hopefully it has better equipment.

I’m on board and love to read the live threads so I figured I’d jump in and say hello. We boarded around 1pm and the line to go thru Princess’ checkpoint was crazy long. I use a walker so I was escorted to a shorter assistance needed line. Great to come aboard to the clapping. We dropped our stuff at our cabin and all our luggage had already been delivered. Lunch was Alfredo’s and it was served quickly (and deliciously).  We are now on our balcony waiting for sail away before checking out the platinum/elite/suite happy hour and heading to dinner in Club Class. Please let me know if I can answer any questions!

Looks like Sky is all alone now.  Apex, Niew Amsterdam, Enchanted and now Odyssey all gone.

We’ve been on board now for a little more than 2 hours. Embarkation got a little backed up during security and when they checked our documents. It definitely helps to have your passport, Covid test results, and Covid vaccination proof out and ready to be checked. Other than that it was quick and we were soon on the ship to a round of applause from crew members. We first went to the Sanctuary to make a reservation. By the time we got there it was mostly booked. We only wanted to reserve a half day to try it out and luckily got the last morning availability on Thanksgiving. After that we went to our cabin, it’s our first time having an aft balcony! We watched our muster drill video and then went to check in at our muster station.

On our way to the dining room for lunch we grabbed our first cruise drinks at Vines! We were very interested in the Winemaker’s Dinner that we read about here on Cruise Critic. We asked about it at guest services, but she didn’t know what we were talking about. Vines said to ask at the dining room. At first, the dining room said to call the reservations line. I said everyone keeps telling us something different. We were then directed to another crew member who took our information down and said we would get a call telling us when and where the Winemaker’s Dinner would be. Thankful that’s done, we sat down in the Estrella dining room and enjoyed our lunch. Now off to explore more of this beautiful ship!

From experience I recommend you talk to the maitre d about the wine making dinner when you get a chance.

I will be interested to read any report from someone on board who elected TD how it is being handled.  Did you elect Private or Shared?  Are you getting same table and wait staff each evening?  Did you have to make a request to get it to work for you?  Thanks.

Sky Princess is doing all 7 day cruises until she starts her Christmas cruise on the 18th. She will be back in Ft. Lauderdale every Saturday. I cruise every year right after Thanksgiving and it’s fully decorated. I would assume they would start decorating on the cruise starting Nov 27th and be fully decorated by the time we board on the 4th. If the don’t start until our cruise it will still be decorated for most of it. It doesn’t take them long to decorate the ship.

I wonder if they will keep them up through New Year's Eve?   We're sailing on the 28th,

In Ft. L. Christmas decorations traditional are set up on the first turnover day in Dec and taken down on the first turnover day in Jan.  A local company comes on board and does all the work in the time the ship is in port.

The first turnover day in Jan will be at the end of our cruise on 1/8/22?

Wife an I have sailed on almost 30 cruises, but the embarkation on this ship was by far the fastest and easiest ever. It literally took us about 15 minutes from the time we were dropped off at the pier by the Uber driver to being inside our cabin. Amazingly fast.  We did, however have the earliest embarkation time, and are platinum with princess. I really don't think the Platinum status made a huge difference though, as it was just a super efficient process.

So far our experience has been great on the ship. Our room steward met us when we arrived, and all of the staff on board has been extremely pleasant. The ship is beautiful. We had lunch at Alfredo's, which was excellent, and had dinner in the main dining room. Dinner service was fairly slow, as our waiter apparently was working by himself. The food was good though.

My wife and I are not big drinkers as a general rule, and typically go weeks or months without drinking anything alcoholic at all, but took advantage of a drink package for day one. Lol. As a result, we crashed kind of early.

For those concerned about the internet, I will say that it has held up pretty well so far, and I was able to stream a couple football games at lunch time.

We are about to head to the gym for workout. Did a walk-through at the gym yesterday, and it looked decent, but somewhat under sized for a ship this capacity.

We have had fairly rough seas so far.  People losing balance here and there.

So far we give the sea princess a high grade.

Made it to the Bahamas! The sun is shining and seas are great. As bad as the weather was in FLL there was some concern as to being able to anchor off Princess Cay, but all looks perfect as the water is calm to flat.

It's been great reading these posts!  The Sky was the last ship we were on in January right before Covid, the ship were were supposed to be on last year and the ship we'll be sailing on in January.  Less than 2 months and I can't wait!!

I do have a couple questions.  Can anyone tell me when you were able to put in your arrival time?  Also, is Captain Tuvo on the ship?  He's our favorite.  He took our breakfast order and then signed it and gave it back to us 🙂

Just finished a late breakfast and off to Princess Cays. Were told 2,024 passengers aboard or about 55% full. Seems rather quiet at times but it's very comfortable.

That looks like a nice number.  Have a great time!
