Crapster Posted November 21, 2021 #1 Share Posted November 21, 2021 Oct 31 Liberty of the Seas I understand the ship was around 40%. Standard boarding - I arrived 5 min after my 12:00p posted check-in time with a very small group that never slowed down as we went inside. They "were" checking sail passes and had a separate line for early folks, but they were slowly steaming early folks in in-between us. (never had to stop due to lines). First check - check Covid NEG proof and Sail pass. No mentionable line. Second check - Carry-on Xray scanners. No mentionable line. Third check - Actual check-in. Show NEG Covid Test results, Vaccine card, Passport, Sail pass, credit card on file, etc. Many lines. 2-3 min wait. Then upstairs to take a seat. They sat folks (somewhat spaced) in rows as they came in (continuously). In about 15 min a representative came over and started calling row by row to board the ship. At this point any line moved as fast as I could walk. In all - I calculated 15 min from parking to sitting upstairs, 15 min sitting upstairs before boarding. I've got another Liberty trip coming up in early Jan. => I'd be extremely interested if my "GALVESTON port" experience was normal or lucky. 2
WindinmySails Posted November 21, 2021 #2 Share Posted November 21, 2021 Wow, great news, and I hope that that experience was normal. I'll be boarding next Friday 11/26. Our boarding time is noon, and hoping for the best, so looking forward to my cruise on Adventure. Thank you for sharing your experience!
not-enough-cruising Posted November 21, 2021 #3 Share Posted November 21, 2021 On Liberty this morning, dropped off bags and parked the truck. walked over to the terminal, and from the terminal door, to the Windjammer was less than 20 minutes for a party of 4. As mentioned above, initial station checked vaccine card and Covid test. Next stop checked passport, then sent you through metal detector. Upstairs to check in, checked ALL documents again, then sent us to the ship.

Pretty similar to our experience...October 24...off the shuttle bus, short wait outside the terminal, documents checked...security, check-in...it didn't take long and we were onboard. For our b2b's, it took approximately 1 hr and 15 minutes...met at the Star Lounge, new seapass cards given, escorted to deck 4, old seapass used to check out, walked down to the terminal, waited, checked back in, then back onboard. Our first turnaround had 187 b2b passengers...the second had 137 b2b passengers.
AustinCruise Posted November 21, 2021 #5 Share Posted November 21, 2021 Guest services said ship “almost full”. Certainly more folks than on Indy in August by a huge margin.

not-enough-cruising Posted November 21, 2021 #7 Share Posted November 21, 2021 Today’s process has convinced me that when things return to “normal”, having set, ENFORCED check on times should be a permanent addition to the process. Today convinced me the check in and on boarding process can be so much smoother than it has been at times.
