Even more slot machines in the Ocean Bar on the K-dam

Hi-

 

Just got off a B2B on the K-dam, and 12 machines where added in San Diego at the beginning of the first cruise, but the good news is they removed in San Diego when we docked on disembarkation day. My guess is they were added for 2 cruises because both 7 day cruises where full of Club 21 guest and also a $25k slot tourney of the 2nd cruise.

 

My last 3 cruises on HAL were all Club 21 specials and the Casino was very busy for a HAL cruise.

There were a lot on gamblers on my cruise from nov 7 - 21.  The few times I walked through the casino there were people everywhere, several without masks or using chin masks.  If I was a gambler I wouldn’t have wanted to be in the casino.

Those are the machines that will be used for the tournament. They must all be identical. The same machines were on the Rotterdam last week. One of the reasons I believe they are temporary, as HAL casino personnel have stated, is that there are no security cameras being installed.

Regardless of what you feel or think these people are big spenders on these cruises. Between shore excursions, specialty restaurants, drinks outside the casino and gambling they generate revenue 12 to 14 hours a day.

The machines in the picture were used for the final round in the slot tournament last Saturday, and as the OP said, the were removed Sunday.  However, the other slot machines in the Ocean Bar are still there.

I appreciate the fact that I can escape the horrible smoke in the casino but still have a gamble in the Ocean bar slot machines. Maybe it is a test by HAL to see how many will play in a smoke free environment on the ships that still allow smoking in the casino. It's crazy that on some HAL ships no smoking in the casino and other HAL ships you can. Makes no sense! C'mon HAL, make a policy and stick to it , fleet wide!

Smoking in the casino vs no smoking elsewhere other than in a designated area makes no sense as a policy.  If smoking is not allowed anywhere on the ship other than a designated area, it makes NO sense to allow smoking in the casino.

Inconsistency of the cruise experience has become the hallmark of a HAL cruise for many years, I am sorry to say.

New to the HAL board as we have just booked our first HAL cruise, which is a Koningsdam Alaska cruise.

The idea of being able to play slots in a smoke free area is very appealing.

 

Coming from Australia, where there is no smoking in any indoor area on any cruise, we find it extremely poor that it is allowed in cruises from other countries.
