SFO pre-cruise hotels

Would appreciate any recommendations for hotels pre-cruise in SFO for April CA Coast trip. Have been to SFO a few times so not necessarily looking for that local “experience.” Thanks all!

If you haven’t booked flights, consider flying into Oakland.  SFO has many more congestion and fog delays than Oakland and BART goes to both with Oakland being closer to the ship.

Any hotel along the Embarcadero  or Fisherman’s Wharf  will put you close to the cruise terminal.  However, the BART stations will be a little bit of a walk or another ride.
 

 Oakland is a very nice airport in my opinion.  However, If arriving at OAK and using BART you will need to change trains at the Coliseum Station.  Uber/Lyft is a good option for transport.  Watch for surcharges, though. 
 

The Fishermans Wharf area has Marriott, Sheraton, Hyatt Centric, all good hotels.  There is also a Hyatt near the Ferry Building.

The train transfer is only from the short airport spur line similar to other airports with nearby rail connections

I've booked Hotel Zephyr for my upcoming cruise.  Looks like a great place.

I live near SFO (the airport), if you are not looking for a city experience, there are a number of hotels near the airport.  Embassy Suites is very nice, there is also a Hilton and a Hilton Inn.  These hotels would be cheaper than anything in the city, near the port.

Google shows its 21 minutes from OAK and 18 minutes from SFO...not counting bridge congestion from OAK.

Do you mean a hotel in San Francisco, or a hotel at the airport? Locals get very testy when you call their city by its airport code.

 

Personally I'd choose the Embarcadero or Union Square. Did you have a budget in mind?

I think Dave meant SFO itself has congestion, as in number of planes landing, taking off and taxiing, and that causes delays. It is especially bad on fog days.
