Chiliburn Posted June 13 #1926 Share Posted June 13 (edited) As you posted ,it looks like Serenade with port bookings, will be going to the Caribbean and not Australia. That shoots my theory down in flames. Edited June 13 by Chiliburn
Rare reeves35 Posted June 13 #1927 Share Posted June 13 I assume RC has the same issues with summer operations to NZ that Carnival is complaining about and may be choosing to limit their exposure in the same way. 1
Chiliburn Posted June 21 #1928 Share Posted June 21 (edited) Does anyone know if this is applicable to Australians ? It used to be for U.S. and Canada residents but I can’t find that anymore. Hardrock Resorts now have a reciprocal thing also. Edited June 21 by Chiliburn

Thats a month or more earlier than my bookings ,that’s about the time their ships move to east coast U.S.A. Edited June 21 by Chiliburn
Rare arxcards Posted June 22 #1931 Share Posted June 22 The timing is right for Brisbane to hold onto Voyager (or surrogate) year round from 2026. With no more P&O in Brisbane, it should be a cakewalk. Royal is a more respected brand in QLD than Carnival.

The Caribbean is getting pretty congested. But that $200k plus just to tie up in circular quay would scare anyone off. Brisbane really has something going for a year round deployment with the extreme temperatures they are getting in the northern hemisphere . There’s a market for climate refugees , the snow birds or heat birds can fly a bit farther south to Brisbane.

That is a $46 per passenger tax that is built into the port fees and charges part of your fare. It was already $30pp (130K) in 2015. They could venture south for a few cruises out of Sydney too, but with more competition from Carnival. If they market it right and add even add Lelepa to itineraries, they can woo many of QLD's disaffected P&O cruisers away from Carnival.

That’s where they pick up passengers from Brisbane and Sydney .Then do a lap of the islands or Queensland coast. They wouldn’t have a problem filling a ship with locals and climate refugees.

Its only a bit over a year away and Serenade hasn’t got anywhere confirmed as a home port.

It is looking more likely Voyager will be here in Brisbane before Christmas 2025.

Fuel is in short supply and they would probably break it up into two cruises. I don’t think Capetown would handle the flights with a turn around . Plus would they have enough Budweiser and Fosters in Africa to resupply the ship ? But if they do tank passengers,I’m on it . If the deployment guide proves to be correct, they have allowed around 3 months. I’m guessing the sailings will be revenue. They’re going to burn the fuel anyway.
fairywren Posted June 23 #1943 Share Posted June 23 I'll be watching with interest as I'm booked on it too. If it goes around Africa with passengers it actually opens up a few options which might suit us here in Perth.
Chiliburn Posted June 26 #1944 Share Posted June 26 Port Kembla LNG terminal is near completion and I think we may have the potential for a LNG powered Oasis or Icon class in the future. The channel in port Kembla has had an upgrade and dredged to take some of the largest ships around so the gas can get in . Royal Caribbean is rumoured to order another Icon and I believe an eighth Oasis class all LNG and the Caribbean ports are full. Is that 12 of the big ships ? Shanghai ,Singapore and Tauranga all ready has ship LNG . I think we now have the potential for a L.N.G powered ship split between Asia and Port Kembla . It would solve the carbon emissions problem. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-04-13/australias-first-gas-terminal-nears-completion/103701306 1

No ,Gladstone has LNG but only an export terminal , not fueling facilities. Andrew Forrest is behind it so I would say he might have a barge to move it around. A Oasis in Shanghai would bump a Quantum to Alaska over the northern winter. Anthem ,Ovation and Quantum would be able to take advantage of that new terminal in Seward . https://www.adn.com/business-economy/2024/04/21/with-commitment-from-royal-caribbean-alaska-railroad-advances-137m-plan-to-revamp-seward-dock/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR068KYPegivoR_fpFQENRcHjIcvnz-byeP_BnMkn4TpP0sqLNvI45gXQ-E_aem_AUqndKfTUb5x3EkdKoKD1JzTCOrM7Xnqx8GMfbnmZDlCTq28ItS8lxMHf-iGst8nE-lHp90Pprmhb42Gbd3GfVgd

Chiliburn Posted June 28 #1950 Share Posted June 28 (edited) I have been trawling for years for anything on the RCG private island in Vanuatu. News papers, construction tenders, government planning and I haven’t found anything of substance. Cox architects had it on their books but that seems to have faded away ,they don’t seem to be involved. This is all that has popped up ,a renovation of the chief’s hut and they are hoping for foreign aid from Australia or N.Z . You would think a company that spends a Billion dollars regularly on a new ship could put a roof on the a hut . https://www.dailypost.vu/news/lelepa-community-begins-renovation-of-old-chiefs-nakamal/article_d1fdbde2-2c1c-50e1-b7a1-f13c6ae16e31.html Edited June 28 by Chiliburn
